Trump on waterboarding: 'We have to fight fire with fire'

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said he wants to "fight fire with fire" when it comes to stopping terrorism, suggesting that he could be open to bringing back torture because he "absolutely" believes it works.

By reinstating enhanced interrogation, Trump would violate a US law ratified by the Senate in 2015 and go against the view of Defense Secretary James Mattis. CIA Director Mike Pompeo told senators earlier this month that he wouldn't sanction the use of torture, though he later said he would consider bringing back waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation measures under certain circumstances.

In an interview with ABC News, Trump said "people at the highest level of intelligence" have told him that torture does work, something military experts have refuted. He went on to say, however, that he will listen to what his Cabinet secretaries have to say about the issue.

"When ISIS is doing things that no one has ever heard of, since medieval times, would I feel strongly about waterboarding?" Trump said. "As far as I'm concerned, we have to fight fire with fire."

Trump wants to "fight fire with fire." Does this mean that if ISIS captures an American, beheads him, and puts the video online that Trump will behead one of our Gitmo detainees and put video of it online? Sorry guys but impeachment is no longer good enough: Trump requires imprisonment before he gets a bunch of GIs killed for no reason whatsoever.

No dummy you don't fight fire with fire, because all that does is spread and feed fire all around, until you're surrounded with it. You don't think all that stuff of waterboarding gave IS wonderful propaganda? If you don't, but in between twittering you can actually look up their webpage which they put out there just as if it was Cosmopolitan magazine, where they talk about how much you Trump have been a propaganda boom to them! Even your buddy general Mattis pulled you out right but torture does not work! Even the FBI, who you love so much, told you that when the CIA came in and started to do their version of interrogation, which included waterboarding all it did was galvanize the people in their cells that would eventually become the Islamic state.

No and your cult are just going to do what feels good, like addicst banging the needle into their arms. You know Beijing is prepared to let our bodies once that happens.

because if they have to face the fact that it did not work they would be out of a job. Indeed the sad thing about the trumpet ministration is that they are hiring people who, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of beliefs have simply shown themselves to be either criminal or incompetent and often both! Do you really want to go ahead and follow the same recipe that you rightfully marked when about George Bush administration did it?

The only convention that matters to him is the one that nominated him.

Their way of thinking:

"Why should we have to abide by something from Geneva (that's not part of America, right?) when we are pushing for America First and we don't want anyone messing with our sovereignty. Who are they to tell us what we can and can't do in our own country? We don't need any damn foreigners telling US what we can and can't do! We're America, and we can do what we damn well please, as long as The Donald is at the helm!"

The phrase "fight fire with fire" sounds like medieval trial by ordeal

They might cut them or burn them, and wait a few days to see if the
wound healed, or if it became infected which meant to them they were
guilty

If they "knew" the person was guilty and wouldn't confess to save their
soul before being burned at the stake (please if you figure out the difference
let me know) or drawn-and-quartered, they might add more torture to force
out the confession. Or use the pilliwinks - the thumbscrew - or stretching
on the rack, or even crushing with hot stones.

Drawing and quartering was death by torture. Drawn or dragged by a horse
to the executioners, hanged, emasculated, disemboweled or perhaps hot-
pokered up the bowels, then beheaded and chopped into four pieces like
a chicken (quartered).

Very sorry for the minute details, attended a lecture on it once, and it
seems appropriate to where we're headed.

Trump says torture works as his government readies a review
Bradley Klapper, Desmond Butler and Deb Riechmann, Associated Press Updated 4:04 pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2017

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump declared Wednesday he believes torture works as his administration readied a sweeping review of how America conducts the war on terror. It includes possible resumption of banned interrogation methods and reopening CIA-run "black site" prisons outside the United States.

In an interview with ABC News, Trump said he would wage war against Islamic State militants with the singular goal of keeping the U.S. safe. Asked specifically about the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding, Trump cited the extremist group's atrocities against Christians and others and said: "We have to fight fire with fire."

Trump said he would consult with new Defense Secretary James Mattis and CIA Director Mike Pompeo before authorizing any new policy. But he said he had asked top intelligence officials in the past day: "Does torture work?"

"And the answer was yes, absolutely," Trump said.

People will invent all kinds of stuff under torture to get out of it.
They will agree to anything.

It's a perfect way for idiots to get 'confirmation' of idiot theories and then chase and kill the wrong people.
