President Donald Trump said Thursday that he talked with House Speaker Paul Ryan about waiting to repeal the Affordable Care Act but ultimately decided against it.

He said he believed the move could have hurt Democrats politically.

"We're taking them out of a big jam," he said about efforts to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama's health care law.
