Callista Gingrich, the wife of Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and a friend of Mr. Trumps, is in the running to be ambassador to the Holy See, according to a person briefed on the discussions.

Mr. Gingrich, reached by telephone, said that he was aware that his wife had been on a list for the job, but declined to say where things stood. The former speaker took himself out of the running for a cabinet post after it became clear that Mr. Trump was looking elsewhere for a secretary of state.

Mr. Trump has known the Gingriches socially for years. Theyre members of his golf club in Virginia, and have been at his club, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Fla. Mr. Gingrich was one of the people whom Mr. Trump consulted in 2015 when he had already determined he would run for president.

But Mrs. Gingrich is the former speakers third wife not something the church takes a shine to. Others who are being considered for the role include William Simon Jr., a friend of Rudolph W. Giuliani.

How I wish Francis had come out against Trump on the eve of the election; I'm sure he wanted to and was talked out of it by the (mostly right-wing) curia.

Francis in fact almost tipped the election against Trump's Argentine pal, Macri - but stopped just shy of calling on Catholics to vote against him. The Wednesday before the election, he was asked if he had a preference (he is Argentine after all) and replied by saying that "you already know how I feel; vote your consciences."

While no one doubted what he meant, it was not definitive enough. The far-right Macri won the runoff in a squeaker that Sunday, and Francis reportedly regretted for months not being more emphatic (Macri, for his part, has been a disaster as president - particularly for the working and middle classes).

Some situations just call for boldness.

But, maybe now she has switched over to using composite resin on her hair.
She is the only person in the U.S. whose hairstyle conforms or exceeds all ANSI specs on Helmet crash /impact standards and is exempt from wearing a helmet when she goes out and rides her chopper
