McMullin: Trump team's media attacks are authoritarian-like
Source: CNN
Former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin said Thursday President Donald Trump and his chief strategist's attacks on the media are "highly dangerous" and authoritarian-like.
In an interview with The New York Times, Trump adviser Steve Bannon labeled the media as "the opposition party" and said it should "be embarrassed" and "keep its mouth shut."
"I think Mr. Bannon and Mr. Trump's attacks on the media are highly dangerous. The media, the press, plays a significant role in our democracy, and in any democracy they are highly critical. You can have disputes and disagreements over bias and even over points of fact; but to continually attack and try to erode the credibility of the media when it's doing its job, and doing its job well I would say, in the past week especially, challenging Trump, I think is dangerous," McMullin told CNN's Jake Tapper on "The Lead."

(6,445 posts)That's what has got the Orange Don and his followers from the cult of mass psychosis so unsettled. Hence they have doubled down on their lies and brown shirt intimidation tactics to deny the reality of the revulsion a growing number of Americans feel at their dictatorial and unhinged actions.

(79 posts)this was first reported, I was stunned. .. how could this be happening in the U.S.? And another thought is Trump's mind is gone and Bannon and his group are using him for their purpose. .. This is truly going down in the history books as a bad time for the country..
I have yet to see any trump people I know that changed their minds on how they feel about trump.. they still think he is doing great.. so this is scary..

(5,275 posts)The short answer is 20 years of 24/7 right wing talk on Fox and radio. It has warped the mind of millions who believe so much that just isn't true. Right wing talk has convinced the clueless to vote directly against their own personal interests, thus carrying water for millionaires and billionaires and the war/security state.
The Ruling Class gets largely what they want because too many people do not fact check....as in Hillary is running a child sex ring out of a pizza store in DC. Really?
The dumbing down of America is why we now have a mentally unstable clown in the WH.
