Arkansas governor signs abortion restriction into law

Source: Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Thursday signed into law a bill banning an abortion procedure known as dilation and evacuation.

Hutchinson signed House Bill 1032 by Rep. Andy Mayberry, R-Hensley, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a spokesman said. Earlier Thursday, the Senate approved the bill in a 25-6 vote and sent it to the governor' desk.

The House approved the bill three days earlier in a 78-10 vote.

Titled the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, the legislation bans a procedure in which the cervix is dilated and surgical instruments are used to extract the contents of the uterus. The ban is set to take effect 90 days after the end of the session, which is likely to happen in the spring.

It bans the procedure. There's nothing in the law that says it's okay if the fetus is dead. haele Jan 2017 #4

since the law is intended to preserve life. If the fetus is already dead then I don't think that Republicans are opposed to the procedure.

As it is, Catholic Hospitals aren't supposed to do the procedure even if the fetus has been obviously dead for weeks and the woman is going into septic shock.
A Nun who was the administrator of one such hospital in Arizona risked excommunication for allowing a woman to undergo a D&C procedure to save her life in such a case; the administrator had to do pertinence and officially be forgiven by the Vatican. It's "God's Will" if a woman dies due to complications during pregnancy; it's "God's Will" if a woman gives birth to a sad creature that only lives in agony for a few hours or days. Never mind abortion was just a minor sin prior to the 19th century, because the Bible really doesn't have much to say against abortion other than how much you have to pay the father if you make a pregnant woman miscarry, or that it's OK that Men of God give a woman "bitter herbs" to abort her child if the husband thinks she's been unfaithful - or her father/master doesn't want her to have a bastard.

Because prohibiting a D&C or a D&E is not about a woman's health, but it's all about the Original Sin, or woman being chattel that have to do their God Directed duty.
