Who Is Gregg Phillips, the Man Trump Name-Checked to Prove Voter Fraud?
Source: NBC
In his continued effort to argue that massive voter fraud took place in the 2016 election, President Donald Trump gave a shout-out Friday to Gregg Phillips, who has asserted that more than three million votes have been cast by non-citizens.

So who is Phillips? He's a vocal conservative who founded a health-care-data company. And he's unwilling to share his illegal-vote findings to the public - at least for now.
Back in November - less than a week after Trump's presidential win - Phillips tweeted, "We have verified more than three million votes cast by non-citizens. We are joining .@TrueTheVote to initiate legal action."

Richard Hasen, an election-law expert at the University of California-Irvine School of Law, doesn't buy Phillips' allegations. "He's offered nothing credible whatsoever. It is his word, with absolutely no evidence so far."

When I first saw the tweet, I just assumed this guy was the head of some DC conservative think tank and a regular Fox News contributor.
Then I saw the CNN interview and his own Twitter account, and damn, turns out he's just some random crazy dude peddling tinfoil conspiracy theories.
And yet the President of the United States, the most powerful country in the world, is citing to this man as if he's a renown expert in electoral politics. Unbelievable.

(43,174 posts)AUSTIN - When Deputy Health and Human Services Commissioner Gregg Phillips and private consultant Chris Britton helped write the $1 billion legislation to privatize Texas' human services system, they apparently did so partly with an eye on profit their own.
A Houston Chronicle investigation into the activities of Britton, Phillips and Texas Workforce Commission Executive Director Larry Temple found weaknesses in Texas ethics laws concerning conflicts of interests and cronyism. Their relationships and how they benefited from state business illustrate how Texas law has overlooked the power of lower-level bureaucrats who are often charged with crafting laws.

Phillips once headed the human services system in Mississippi, where legislators criticized him for giving a major state contract to a company, then going to work for the firm. In Texas, Phillips played a role in a major state contract going to another former employer in 2003.
Phillips also apparently helped a business partner, Paige Harkins, get work advising companies on how to win Texas human services privatization contracts that he could influence. On at least one occasion, records indicate Harkins set up a meeting between Phillips and potential state vendors

(23,654 posts)All they need is someone to yell loud enough some conspiratorial malarkey and get his moment on a credible news program, or FOX and they believe him. Doesn't matter how much Cuomo shredded his allegations. They just see a true patriot exposing illegal immigrants illegally voting and it buttresses all their beliefs and the MS Media trying to take him down.
If their stupid leader says it's so, then it must be so. Just like those f&%king pictures of the mall. They don't believe their own eyes, but believe the rantings of a crazy man. Nothing is going to change their minds.

(74 posts)no matter how nonsensical. They need something to base their drastic voter suppression campaign on, which they're going to need a lot more next time, since the general public is waking up. Went on a march with family last Saturday, and I hope to see you all in Washington at the Scientists' march, whenever that is. I hope there are 2 million there. Or 3.
