Cranley to announce Cincinnati a 'sanctuary city'
Source: Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati will add its name to the list of U.S. cities known for welcoming illegal immigrants, defying President Donald Trump's executive order to crack down on people who are in the country without legal permission.
Mayor John Cranley has scheduled a press conference for 2 p.m. Monday and is expected to announce Cincinnati as a so-called "sanctuary city." The decision comes even as Trump has threatened to withhold federal funding from any local government that deems itself a sanctuary jurisdiction.
A City Hall news alert said the mayor will be joined by Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders "to stand in solidarity with the immigrant community." It comes amid nationwide protests against Trump's decision on Friday to ban travel from seven countries in the Middle East.
"Sanctuary city" does not have a set definition and is not an official government designation, but such a place typically allows illegal immigrants to live freely in violation of U.S. law.

Good for Cranley, but it could get interesting.

(22,061 posts)Things must have really changed since I lived there 15 or so years ago. Of course, that was during the Marge Schott days, and DWB (Driving While Black) killings by cops were on the news every night.

I'm sure that you're familiar with Bill Cunningham. He was so extreme, I think he gave Sean Hannity some pointers on how to be a right-wing a-hole in the past. Cunningham might've finally retired, though.
