Deutsche Bank’s Bill for Russia Trades Reaches $629 Million

Deutsche Bank AG was fined $629 million by U.K. and U.S. authorities for compliance failures that saw the bank help wealthy Russians move about $10 billion out of the country using transactions that were likely thinly veiled attempts to cover up financial crime...

The New York regulator said Monday it also appeared a close relative of a Deutsche Bank supervisor in Moscow received bribes worth a quarter million dollars so that the supervisor would clear the trades.

breaking laws and then only be fined?

We never take them to trial, never take them to task for their fraud, for their stealing from the powerless.

We never indict and try the leaders in a court of law for their monumental thefts. If we did that they wouldn't do it anymore!

to the large mega banks, is probably the most corrupt and venal of all the large corporations. They are all corrupt on some level whether it be skirting tax laws or just plain cheating customers. Is there no mechanism is the government that can not just hand out fines that these banks regard as a cost of doing business? They need to be punished in way that gets their attention such as jail time for execs or even shutting them completely down somehow.

What happens to the people who actually committed the actions? Until the laws change and people are held personally accountable this is not going to stop.
