Goldman Sachs 're-evaluating' Raiders' Vegas relocation, move in 'jeopardy'
Source: USA Today
Nary one day had passed after casino mogul Sheldon Adelson took back his $650 million investment stake, and now the Silver and Blacks financial safety net Goldman Sachs is re-evaluating their involvement altogether, per ESPNs Ramona Shelburne.
Adelsons departure already means a loss of $650 million (out of the $1.9 billion Las Vegas stadium plan), for the Raiders.
As for why the investment firm is having double thoughts, the answer is fairly simply to Stanford sports economist Roger Noll, who told the Mercury News Monday night:
Goldman Sachs would not be a source of an equity investment unless they owned a part of the team, said Noll. Either they are making a loan to Mark Davis or they are buying the team. No other explanation makes sense.

(30,151 posts)Study shows Raiders have worst fans, Cardinals biggest bandwagoners
?itok=U92mNKiD
A new study analyzing NFL fan quality places Raiders fans at the bottom and Cardinals supporters most likely to jump the bandwagon.
Based on the 2014 season, Emory Sports Marketing Analytics used advanced statistical metrics to rate fan bases in terms of Fan Equity, Social Media Equity and a bandwagon ranking (based upon how discerning fans are when buying tickets relative to a team's winning percentage).
The Raiders sit in last place on the Fan Equity scale, based on the average of scores from the past three seasons which take into account how willing fans are to support their team financially. The Dallas Cowboys are first, a title they've held the last five years by these metrics. The Seattle Seahawks, somewhat surprisingly, rank 27th.
Pittsburgh came in first in the Social Media Equity ranks, and the Cardinals last. Arizona also came in first in the bandwagon rankings, suggesting their fans are most responsive to winning percentage when purchasing tickets. To be fair, they may not all be bandwagoners in the strongest sense of the word perhaps they just better understand when the on-field product is watchable. New Orleans, Buffalo, Oakland and Washington round out the top five.

Top 15 NFL Teams With The Most Fan Arrests
They only got beat out of 1st place with the most fan arrests by the 49ers
2. Oakland Raiders
The tough blue collar city of Oakland is home to one of the leagues rowdiest fan bases. Every NFL fan knows that Raider Nation is mean, tough, and proud. In fact, their pride is so apparent in every game that it has led to various brushes with the law. It doesnt help that their rivalry with both the 49ers and Chargers has brought out the worst in them either. When Oakland faced both teams in the 2014 season, there were a combined 56 arrests in those two games. It doesnt stop there, the fights ensue all the way to the parking lot, with a case even resulting in a fatality.
1. San Francisco 49ers
It doesnt take a genius to know that the 49ers and the Raiders hate each others guts. Theyre not only competing for bragging rights in the Bay Area, but theyre also looking to be THE established team. Although Raider fans have long been criticized for their violent, rowdy behavior in the past, in truth, 49er fans have been relatively worse on game day. In a single season, there have been over 3,415 incidents in Levi Stadium. This tally includes over 200 fights and 23 felony arrests. And, thats just one season. Dont count out preseason either, there are just as many arrests in these games as there are during the regular season.

I had season tickets for the 1997 season where they went 4-12. I don't buy tickets because the stadium is located near Bethany Home & 101st Avenue which is on the edge of Western Phoenix metro area. All there is past the stadium is four blocks of farm land, a residential neighborhood, and a Fry's. It would take me forever, especially on Sundays, to make it to a game.
I live all the way in the East Valley in Mesa but I've watched them religiously on TV for years. I don't like any other team more with the exception of 2003-2006 when Jake Plummer signed with Denver but Denver has always been my AFC team(I was born in Fort Collins) butmy heart belongs to the Cardinals.

(27,792 posts)Not surprising. I live amongst these people, and I can tell you one thing, they don't like to buy concessions at games and they don't like to pay for parking. And they don't buy gear unless the team wins deep into the playoffs (for the most part). When they got into the Super Bowl, you couldn't find anything to buy anywhere, but now that they're knocked out of the playoffs, every store is glutted with Seahawks' stuff, including the grocery stores.

(29,322 posts)I parked on the side of a convient store for free and beer was $8.00. I went with a group of friends from the Army rooting for the Saints. One was a Raiders fan who was suckered punch and had his shirt taken from him so by the time I got there he was wearing a white shirt with Raiders written on it. This happened at a tailgate After the Saints scored early I put my arms up a guy fewrows back yelled "get your fucking arms down!!".
During the tailgatemy friends encouraged me " to take the walk" which was the same walk the guy was suckered punched in. One fan was cool giving out free beers but said "This is our house" and something like I had to respect it.
After the game the guy with the Raiders shirt was singing "When the Saints go marching in".

(27,792 posts)Lately, all they care about is making noise. The last game I went to there became really unpleasant because they just wanted to get the decibel level up. I usually go to Lions' games, and essentially just seek out other Lions fans.

Oakland is a tough city for a tough team.
