9/11-Style Commission Into Russia's Election Meddling Gathers Steam

The creation of a 9/11-style commission to investigate Russian interference in the presidential election has won bipartisan support, according to a senior Democratic lawmaker.
In an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes, Rep. Elijah Cummings said that such a committee was necessary "to really get into how all of this happened, what was the relationship between the Trump campaign and the Russians, and try to figure out how to make sure that this does not happen again."

Sen. Ben Cardin, the leading Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has previously called for an independent commission into election meddling. Last month, Cardin and four colleagues introduced legislation to create such a body. "The American people deserve a nonpartisan, transparent, public investigation into this insidious attack on our democratic institutions," Cardin said in a statement at the time.

Cummings, the ranking member on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, added that his bill to create a commission to investigate Russian hacking had secured a Republican co-sponsor.

8. This doesn't make me necessarily happy.

9/11 was stonewalled to death and a lot of important information was blocked. This will do no good if information damaging to Drumpf is held back due to it's being classified. I just can't imagine the Repugs allowing this to be a full throated investigation, just like they stopped the full investigation into 9/11. They only care about their power and Drumpf is a means to an end. I'll be shocked if they actually take the needed steps of removing everyone, including Drumpf, who participated in the collusion and cover-up. Pence may also be implicated and you know even if they remove Drumpf, they will want him to be president. He'll do an equal job of protecting and enhancing the rich and fucking the rest of us over, especially LGBT and non-white folks.

I'm doubtful that there will be any truly "bi-partisan" 9/11 style commission to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Most likely, all we'll get is a GOP-led "whitewash" type of investigation.

One Republican Congressman from North Carolina joining Rep. Cummings doesn't translate into:
"has won bi-partisan support" unfortunately.

However, if Cummings can convince 12 or 15 other GOP Congress-critters to "break ranks' and co-sponsor such a commission, then we might get something.

15. IMO, all Republicans from 2015 on, campaign & in Gov./w ANYcontact to russians are in on the crimes.

don't forget some other Countries governments have stated they have recordings of 'meet-ups' aswell.

If Ds can't get the official government to do any investigations NOW, hire some top PIs companies to collect some info now before Russia kills off info and Republicans bury more.

Hire that UK expert again and other professionals like him, we the general public will chip-in directly.
