Congress explores options for removing an unfit president as Trump's 'disturbing' behavior worries

Source: Raw Story

Several Democratic lawmakers, and a number of pundits, have openly questioned President Donald Trumps mental health but Republicans are literally laughing at the suggestion.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) called for a congressional review this week of the constitutional process for removing a president who is mentally or emotionally unfit for office, and Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) told CNN that some of his GOP colleagues were worried about the presidents stability, reported The Hill.

Its not normal behavior, Blumenauer said. I dont know anybody in a position of responsibility that doesnt know if theyre being rained on, and nobody I work with serially offers up verifiably false statements on an ongoing basis.

Another Democratic lawmaker, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), plans to introduce a bill that would require a psychiatrist or psychologist to work at the White House.

Won't happen without the Republicans. Wishful thinking.

The Republicans will prop Trump up as long as he signs their bills. And he will. He's smart enough to know that.

I do think that this is worth pursuing, even if the Dems do not have the numbers in Congress right now to do it. We must be the Resistance and make stands wherever we can. Removing Trump (25th Amendment) should be a focal point for 2018.

Trump's mental incapacity should be an explicit issue for the Democrats and the American People. Is it the Surgeon-General who looks after the health of the President?

Anyway, I think that this is worth pursuing and discussing. If Trump is mentally unstable, he needs to be removed or step down. This is one line of attack that could be combined with others, such as Impeachable Offenses like the Russia Scandal.

That responsibility lies with the Chief White House Physician. At the present time that position is held by Ronny Jackson, MD. He is a holdover from the Obama Administration. I'm not sure if Trump plans on replacing him or not.

as the law is clear on how many votes you need to remove a sitting President according to the 25th amendment.
That doesnt mean the Dems cannot use this against the Repugnants though because if they play it carefully they can and should use it like a baseball bat against them for every election for the next 20+ years.

Congress, the institution, is not exploring options for removing an unfit president, either in general or with specific reference to Trump. Some Democrats are talking about it, but that's a far cry from Congress as a whole exploring the matter.

Resulting from Trumps incompetence.

Then the repubs will have to consider removing him.

It is sad that people will have to suffer, but when, not if it happens, the gop will own this clown.

16. Removing Trump

Even if Trump can not be removed, attacking him at every opportunity is a must for 2018 and beyond. We need a powerful and effective counter-propaganda operation. Just as the Tea Party did not relent against Obama, we must use every line of attack against Trump and his Regime.

This might not result in Removal or Impeachment, but could erode Trump and the Republican base for 2018 and 2020. The Tea Party did not manage to ouster Obama, but they helped lay the groundwork for a Republican take-over of the White House, Congress, and a lot of State Offices in 2016.

We as Democrats must use the same type of counter-operations, even if it does not result in Trump being removed before 2020. We need to apply pressure to the Administration, in the Media, in the Streets, everywhere we can, as much as we can. Our first major test will be the 2018 elections. We need to work on it now and use every political weapon that is available. Attacking Trump as mentally incompetent is just one element that we can use.
