Three Swiss bankers indicted in New York for having helped American depositors to

hide 1.2 billion dollars subject to taxation, announced they have hired a lawyer in Manhattan.

. . .

Their employer's name was not revealed, but Internet research on their names reveals that they worked together for Wegelin, a bank in Saint-Gall (Northeast of Switzerland) that stopped doing business in the United States in 2009.

The American investigators accuse the three bankers of having recruited clients in order to permit then, among other things, to set up cover corporations between 2005 and 2010 in Liechtenstein, Panama or Hong Kong. In 2008, when the Swiss bank, UBS was the target of a huge investigation in the US for tax evasion, they pushed the fact that the bank for which they worked didn't have offices outside Switzerland and that it was less vulnerable to investigations. Through that means they attracted 70 American depositors.

I can't believe this story has sunk like a stone
on DU...
Do we no longer believe that there is anything we can do about
extreme corruption?
