Trayvon Martin's parents: Killing our son not 'God's plan'

Source: Today News

After George Zimmerman called his killing Trayvon Martin part of “God’s plan,’’ Martin’s parents spoke out Thursday.

“I really think that’s ridiculous,’’ Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, told TODAY’s Matt Lauer. “I wish Trayvon was here to tell his side of the story. I don’t believe that it’s God’s plan for him to kill an innocent teenager.’’

Wednesday night, in his first television interview, Zimmerman told Fox News host Sean Hannity his version of the events of the night of Feb. 26, when he shot the unarmed 17-year-old in Sanford, Fla. Zimmerman, 28, has been charged with second-degree murder, but said he does not regret following Martin that night while serving as a neighborhood watch volunteer, nor does he regret having been armed.

Zimmerman, who is the son of a white father and a Peruvian mother of Hispanic descent, added that he “is not a racist and not a murderer’’ in a case that has sparked heated emotions regarding race and Florida’s controversial self-defense laws. Martin’s supporters believe Zimmerman racially profiled the black teenager on the night of the shooting, as Zimmerman decided to follow him after alerting the local police to what he regarded as a suspicious person in the neighborhood.

No need to try to do better.

Shit happens and that's just fine with daddy-god, as long as we keep invoking his name to excuse one's self, but blame everyone else.

Mainstream Presbyterian, 1960s. We were warned by the clergy to be wary of people who presumed to speak on God's behalf, because they were either charlatans or insane.

And that is why he was on Hannity - his lawyer said it was to get more donations for Zimmerman's defense fund (according to Lawrence O'Donnell last night).

That is also why he had to hit all the talking points:
God's Plan - check
Zimmerman thinks he did the right thing - check
Half assed semi apology to Martin's parents - check
Carried gun everywhere - check

I haven't read a full article on the interview - couldn't finish since I kept yelling at the computer screen so there are probably other talking points I missed.

I really wanted to know what rationale the judge had used to allow him to post bail, given the fact that GZ and his wife had blatantly lied to his face. In addition to the fact that he was a definite flight risk.

So, GZ is soliciting for more money? Did he run through the reported nearly a quarter million dollars already received?

This is situation is so slimy and disgusting.

He HAS to provide a chance for bond unless the accused is a clear danger to the community. Zimmerman appears to only be a danger to unarmed black youths walking in the rain.

Before the first bond hearing, Zimmerman had already spent about $50,000. Since then he's had to put up $100,000 for his million dollar bond and he's spent a boatload of money - in one of the other threads about him there is info from the papers provided to the judge at the second hearing.

Mark O'Mara, his attorney is also taking a cut for his own expenses, filings, office costs, paying his staff to handle the discovery process, etc. His firm is going to burn through money really fast.

I hope lots of right wing idiots contribute to Zimmerman - otherwise Florida taxpayers will have to cover all those expenses. It's a perfect situation for fools and their money to be parted.

man -- themselves. The actual wording is that man is made in the image of God. And that is a figure of speech, symbolic language, not to be taken literally.

This is the problem with people attributing good events to the intervention of God. Of course, the natural, most logical conclusion is that if God intervenes to do good things, he must also intervene to do other things. They think that they can, therefore, attribute events they perceive as bad or unfortunate to the intervention of God.

In fact, human actions have consequences. If you consume more calories than you use, you will probably gain weight. If you drink more than so much beer, you will probably get drunk. If you have fair skin and spend many hours in the mid-day sun, you might get a sunburn.

If you carry a gun into a housing development in order to catch unknown criminals, chances are pretty good you might shoot an innocent person. That doesn't mean that it was God's will. That means it was your own will. You chose to carry the gun. You chose to follow someone without evidence they were doing anything wrong. You can't blame God if you get into trouble.

Multiple times.
Then maybe, just maybe he will learn compassion for others who have been victims too.
No regrets and God's will that you murdered a man?
Fuck him, I hope he dies.
