Rupert Murdoch quits boards of British papers

Source: Reuters

News Corp's Rupert Murdoch has stepped down as a director from a string of boards overseeing the Sun, Times and Sunday Times newspapers in Britain, the company said in an internal memo on Saturday.

The resignations follow the announcement in June that News Corp would be split into two separate companies: a smaller publishing division and a much larger entertainment and TV group.

"I wanted to let you know that Rupert Murdoch has resigned as director of a number of companies, including NI Group Limited, known to most of you as News International, and Times Newspapers Holdings Limited," Tom Mockridge, the head of Murdoch's British newspaper arm, said in the email, seen by Reuters.

"As you may be aware, Rupert resigned from a number of UK boards, including News Group Newspapers and Times Newspapers Limited, some time ago. He has also stepped down from more than a dozen boards of companies with interests in the U.S., Australia and India."

I believe Murdoch stepping away from control of his media outlets even less than I believe Romney stepping away from control of Bain in 1999.

He'll leave control of Fox Noise to his underling because he trusts Ailes (with good reason) to control the content with an iron fist. But he'll not grant independent editorial control to any underling that isn't 100% on board with his political propaganda line.

The Sun and Times etc are being split off and doubtless eventually sold. He longer really needs that involvement here his main interest being in pay tv.

Whatever he does in the US is unassociated with this item.

he would not be making this move. He is being forced into positions he does not want to be in. While I hope in the end he and his whole lot spend the rest of their days penniless and behind bars, I do relish every bit of bad luck he has, every move that he is forced to make to try to mitigate the damages.

Hopefully, they will eventually be forced to open an investigation here.

Mr Murdoch said: " I've done my damage here, I'll be moving on now." And then he perp walked out the door.

Many do not believe that the media is RIGHT-wing because they don't believe the number of the connections on corporate boards.

Wake up America, your stuff has been stolen and more will disappear.
