Top Intel Dem Schiff calls on Nunes to recuse himself from House Russia investigation

(CNN)Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Russia investigation, called on House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes to recuse himself from the investigation in a stunning split between the two top investigators.

"After much consideration, and in light of the Chairman's admission that he met with his source of information at the White House, I believe that the Chairman should recuse himself from any further involvement in the Russia investigation, as well as any involvement in oversight of matters pertaining to any incidental collection of the Trump transition, as he was also a key member of the transition team," Schiff said in a statement Monday, following a meeting of the Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee.

The request marks a critical split between Schiff and Nunes, who had worked closely on the House investigation into ties between top aides to the campaign of President Donald Trump and Russian officials.

Well, really, what needs to happen is an independent 9/11-style commission, and a special prosecutor. But this is an important step to get there. Schiff is handling this skillfully.

I am amazed at how stupid Nunes is. The guy has no grasp. He is supposed to be investigating Trump and his Cronies, not reporting to them. Congress' job here is oversight over the White House and the Executive Branch.

What Nunes did is obviously a breach. Thank God for Schiff. Nunes needs to recuse himself as he might be under investigation as part of the Trump Campaign and the Trump Transition. Nunes' loyalty clearly lies with Trump, not the Truth, and not the People. Or more accurately, he is probably just covering his own hide.

Paul Ryan won't remove Nunes, so he would have
to recuse himself voluntarily.

Russia and 45 need him in that seat to block, obstruct,
and nullify the investigation.
