Five more advertisers, including BMW, flee from Bill O'Reilly's Fox News show over sexual harassment
Source: New York Daily News
Five more advertisers pulled out of Bill OReillys Fox News show Tuesday over his history of sexual harassment cases, after two started the exodus a day earlier.
A spokesperson for BMW of North America told BuzzFeed News it would suspend its advertising on The OReilly Factor in light of the allegations.
Meanwhile, Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, the online marketing company Constant Contact and Sanofi, the parent company of Gold Bond, confirmed to CNN they were fleeing as well.
The pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline said it was suspending its ads until it could "assess this situation."

(8,200 posts)We are experiencing the results of 40 years of right wing propaganda that has completely polarized the nation. Nothing anyone can say, nor will any amount of proof will ever convince the radical right wing that the are supporting their own destruction. Due to the abject apathy of some 50% of the voters, a minority of radicals elected one of the most ignorant man to ever represent the nation. Unfortunately, their apathy will not only result in their destruction, but society as a hole if this madness cannot be reversed. Trump is not only unqualified, but seriously displays mental problems. The man is an outright fascist demagogue without a shred or compassion and totally without a conscience. He delights in totally destroying those he has bankrupt and cheated. We can only hope tat he does not bring the engulf the entire world in a nuclear holocaust. He is as mad Hitler and as heartless as Stalin.

(64,418 posts)According to reports here about 3 months ago, the whole RM thing is dying. Too many people have figured out it's not a good deal unless you're well into your 70's. Then the term seldom exceeds life expectancy. But, if that's true, the whole market is aging toward death and not going to be big enough to bother with advertising.
So, even those ads will start to subside.

(6,330 posts)1. You have no children or they are so well off inheritance wouldn't mean much.
2. You have enough and just want to take a nice vacation somewhere.
But as for supplementing your retirement income, seems like an awful idea. And if you do have children who are struggling, you sure aren't doing them any favors. Particularly if they are saddled with the burial costs.

We're well into 7 figures and we couldn't successfully have kids so anything left behind goes to charity
An RM plus pension covers health insurance easily until Medicare and then supplementals after that
And I'm still not sure RM is a good idea
I've got 123 weeks to decide

(6,330 posts)No children on our end either, top doctor at UCLA who specializes in risky pregnancies wouldn't even bother to see us. Wife and an I decided once we hit retirement, going to buy a fifth wheel and live like gypsy's. But then we asked ourselves....why wait? Another 10 years at work and I'll be pretty much set up. So, I'll do the "semi-retire" thing, and get a "job" like wine tasting room host, while living in the RV for that year, then move somewhere else we want to visit and get another job...shouldn't be a problem for an analyst at a fortune 500 company, who...well, won't go into my accolades....is perfectly comfortable at working at a significant discount so long the pay covers the space rent and groceries.
In a couple of years we are probably going to buy a lot up in Oregon, then drop a one bedroom mobile home on it. One, as a retreat. Two, in the case we do grow too old to travel. But as for the two other properties we own....haven't decided, but likely keep both of them as a "refuge", one is near a national park the other is close to family...which I'm not sure of the value of. Some will go to nieces and nephews once all is said and done. But again, I don't see a need for an RM. And if a situation occurred where we did need an RM, then it should be an "insurance policy" of sorts, not a supplement to retirement. Then, thinking about it, why not rent it out with a professional company as a supplement to retirement income? An RM seems like liquidating for large sums for short term gain.
Then, the fact that RM's can be so prevalent shows that income inequality on the older workforce, they sell themselves and family short. The wealthy have no worry about passing on wealth to their offspring, but its a new low when financial devices are created to evaporate the middle class wealth and keep their offspring from yet another chance of obtaining a comfortable life.

(34,120 posts)So where they advertise makes no difference to me.
They lied to me about the number of reviewed services in my area they had on their list - told me although I could see none when I was looking as a non-member, many would show up once I paid. I paid and there were still none in the categories I needed. I called them back and they promised to refund my money. They never did. They knew I was heading into the hospital - I was looking for reviews on rehab services - and knew it would be a long time before I would be checking on my bills. By the time I did, it was way beyond the time to challenge the un-refunded charge.
Angie's List is a RIP OFF.

(3,147 posts)With the reports of Rachel Maddow beating him for three straight weeks in 25 to 54 demo. I think a lot of advertisers wanted to jump ship awhile ago. Didn't matter to them if it's the sexual harassment or the lying about his war reporting in the Falkland War. Now that he's losing in the ratings and they're moving on.
