Quinnipiac Poll: Trump Slump Continues

Source: Quinnipiac University

American voters give President Donald Trump a negative 35 - 57 percent job approval, with negative approval among men and white voters, leaving him below former President Barack Obama's worst approval rating, a negative 38 - 57 percent in 2013, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

President Trump is behind among key elements of his base:
Men disapprove 51 - 39 percent;
Republicans approve 79 - 14 percent;
White voters disapprove 48 - 43 percent.

American voters' opinions of some of Trump's personal qualities are mostly negative:
61 - 34 percent that he is not honest;
55 - 40 percent that he does not have good leadership skills;
57 - 39 percent that he does not care about average Americans;
66 - 29 percent that he is not level-headed;
64 - 33 percent that he is a strong person;
60 - 35 percent that he is intelligent;
61 - 34 percent that he does not share their values.

and 60% do not?

I think the big difference between Trump and W on intelligence is that Trump thinks he is smarter than the generals, while W at least knew he wasn't a genius.

about this.

60 percent think he is intelligent, with only 35 percent realizing he is not.

I understand how incredible that figure is and why it is hard to imagine. But it is the truth. 3 out of 5 Americans believe that Donald Trump is an intelligent person.

"I'm president and you're not".

He's functionally illiterate, can't form a full sentence to save his soul, and has a vocabulary of less than 300 words. I've seen some convincing analysis that he has dementia or early Alzheimer's.

W acted the buffoon, and I guess he was, but I read he actually had a high IQ. Its hard for me to believe that, but he did have a modicum of empathy, unlike the Trumpster. Its a sorry state of affairs when you can look back fondly at W's ruinous years.

Not high enough by far.

Trump may be intelligent but intellectually lazy.
Other than that, these polls sound reasonable.

I still find the ~33% who believe in Trump disturbing.

I think some people may answer polls knowing they'll be public but privately believe something else.

60 - 35 percent that he is intelligent;

And no, it was not cited or worded incorrectly either! I went to the link and looked up the question and results -

in that he knows how to manipulate people, and control the narrative. Just look at he very first thing he did when he ran for President. He knows he is a sexual predator so what did he do before anybody started talking about HIS perversions. He assaulted Hillary and told her she better be careful if she went "there" knowing who she is married to. That bought him about 6 months and by then it was over. He could now go out on 5th Ave. He manipulates and controls the narrative like a master.

That's why he's sitting in the WH today.

Almost 80% of Republicans approve of this disastrous traitor.

How can you negotiate or reach a consensus with people like that?

We need to have a strong presence on the left to seriously counteract these wingnuts in the public and legislative sphere. No more of this centrist BS. And I say this as a fairly center-left person.

Always votes Party line, but when your wife was stalked by a young Trump, is that enough reason to NOT vote for the Creep? Yep. We have our political issues, but when it hits home? Nope. Our entire family knows of my encounter with "The" (emphasis) Donald. I do not equate him with a human male, but a Thing.

Understatement that we New Yorkers know him the best.
