New Mexico governor nixes lobbyist disclosures

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) —
2:20 p.m. The governor of New Mexico has vetoed a bill that would have expanded financial disclosure requirements for lobbyists.

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez on Thursday rejected new requirements that lobbyists report expenses under $100 that are spent on lawmakers and other public officials.

In a veto message, Martinez says she supports the intent of the bill but fears it would have several unintended consequences, without further explanation.

Republican and Democratic sponsors of the measure sought to close a loophole in legislation approved last year that otherwise increased reporting requirements for lobbyists. Expenses over $100 including meals must currently be reported periodically to the New Mexico Secretary of State's Office.

This woman is petty, vindictive, small...never got over the District Attorney mentality...and hopes to be on the national scene in a big important position, which is why she spends and spent so little time in our state. Pray to God she's not given any sort of a powerful position that could affect you!

According to the instructor at our alcohol server's class, NM has dropped way down in the DUI stats.

From 2000-02 I was a Public Defender in Doña Ana county, Susanna was the District Attorney. I represented Johnny Hernandez in a DUI jury trial. Jacinto Palomino and Marron Lee, her Assistant District Attorneys, committed willfull misconduct by attempting to taint the jury, misstating evidence, and other egregious, slimy shenanigans. After all the evidence was in, District Judge Lourdes Martinez dismissed the case with prejudice before it went to the jury. Susanna was at the courthouse the following Monday morning and told me not to throw away my trial notebook because the Court of Appeals would kick the case back for retrial within 3 months. Not. Summary affirmance. Susanna went on to appoint Palomino as a District Judge.

Another time, Susanna invited the PD attorneys to her home, and plied the gullible among us with alcohol in an attempt to stop us from filing written Speedy Trial demands.

Her climb to 'success' has always been on the backs of her own people.
