Exclusive: Trump eyes new chief of staff; House Leader on short list

Source: Axios

President Trump is considering a broad shakeup of his White House that could include the replacement of White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and the departure of chief strategist Steve Bannon, aides and advisers tell us.

A top aide to Trump said he's contemplating major changes, but that the situation is very fluid and the timing uncertain: "Things are happening, but it's very unclear the president's willing to pull that trigger."

Insiders tell me that the possibilities for chief of staff include:

-House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who developed a bond with Trump as one of the earlier congressional leaders to support him, and remains a confidant.
-Wayne Berman of Blackstone Group, a Washington heavy-hitter who was an Assistant Secretary of Commerce under President George H.W. Bush, and a key adviser on eight presidential campaigns.
-David Urban of the Washington advisory firm American Continental Group, and a former chief of staff to the late Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.). Urban helped Trump win an upset victory in Pennsylvania, and was in constant cellphone contact with the candidate throughout the campaign.
-Gary Cohn, Trump's economic adviser and the former #2 at Goldman Sachs, who has built a formidable team and internal clout.

There was, prior to Thursday night, a lot of anti-Trump sentiment going around, and who knows how far it could reach. Also money tends to pour into these special elections these days, and that influences things. Thursday night made the Republican seats a bit safer for now though, unfortunately. Still, hope springs eternal.

Did I miss something? Has Bannon actually left? Last time I checked in on the horrible soap opera that is our current administration he'd just been removed from the NSC?

He's really truly gone?

He has not left yet but he cant possibly last that long. He retaliated his demotion from the NSC by getting breitbart to publish negative stories about Jared. Trump is not going to like him attacking his family members. I bet he is out within a couple weeks.

Both of these, shall we say, "hapless goobers" have created one disaster after another. They have managed to make their boss' popularity plummet by the day. The only network Trump can watch is Fox News otherwise he's seeing non-stop bashing. Even his campaign style rallies are diminishing in size.

We all know how Trump is by now. You don't make him look bad and survive his wrath.

It was why he wasn't able to ascend to Speaker of the House. Really, lots of documentation, he's got a real incapacity.

Before public office, McCarty's professional experience was limited to owning a froyo shop in Bakersfield that he bought by winning the lottery. That's what I hear from a friend in Bakersfield.

I'm sure Donald likes him because he "looks" right..also these two probably enjoy incoherently babbling at each other, maybe even about how they both "lucked" into business, T by birth, Mc by lottery ticket..

in his inner circle who has a clue how DC works.
Pence was supposed to be the great legislator and governor, and the White House is still a huge dumpster fire. Putting in a Goldman Sachs or Wall St guy? Man, could Trump be any stupider????

These Guy's see the hand writing on the wall and it is Recession, and high unemployment on the Horizon, and they want their Money before that goes down. All of the Draft Tax proposals will be retroactive to Jan 1,2017.

that wants to be King. Remember the dynamics of the past election. 3 Million more Dem votes over Rethugs, and the Dem base has a higher per capita earning power. Couple of things seem to be happening, people are spending less out of fear of what will this so called dick wad will do next. And when they do make a purchase,it is mostly essentials .

87% of all Stock trades are done by Computer Algorithms. These Algo's are tweaked to capture statements like you mentioned. If you doubt, watch CNBC,the Street Nick Name for this Station is,the Day Traders Network, meaning the on Air Talent will telegraph trades and tips. The Algo's will move the Market accordingly.

If you want to really know what is happening, ask a friend who works the Grocery Retail Business. Someone who has been around for a while, they know by the Sales Ticket Average and the Traffic Counts.

though they really dumb it down, more than it used to be, so it's not as useful as it used to be. There are sometimes a couple of sharp people there.
I used to day trade. Very Intense and time consuming, but less risky if done properly.

Yeah, I guess the computer's are picking up the words that suggest market confidence. 87pc is scary. The Repubs don't care about much except tax cuts and bank Deregulation. There are many traders who are repulsed by DT too, though there are also many who are the typical Repub greedy bastards who think they are better, in a higher class, because they are rich...and they want to maintain class divisions.
