US investigates possible Russia role in Syria chemical attack

The US is investigating whether Russia was involved in the chemical attack in Syria that prompted President Donald Trump to launch the first direct military assault against the Assad regime.
The Pentagon is looking for any evidence that the Russian government knew about or was complicit in the attack in Idlib province that killed at least 80 people and injured dozens more, a senior US defense official said.
World leaders were sharply divided on the the missile bombardment of the Shayrat airfield, believed by the US to be the base for warplanes that carried out the chemical attack on a rebel-held town on Tuesday.

As I understand, they are looking for evidence in the role Russia played if any in the chemical attack, as well as the later bombing of the hospital where the victims were taken, in an attempt to cover up the evidence.

(7,358 posts)Are we going to have a full blown nuclear war? OR did Trump, through back channels warn Putin that he was going to have an air strike because of pressure from the public or military for unlawful use of chemical weapons? If anyone remembers, Saddam used chemical weapons on his own people .. however we sat still and did nothing. It wasn't until Saddam invaded Kuwait that we began getting involved. We even supplied Iraq with weaponry against the Iranians. We know the intentions of what Trumps cabal is doing in terms of Syria .. not for retaliation, no, for percentage points in popularity. That's all that matters to Trump. I don't trust any action he takes none, nada, zilch.
