Bulgaria blast: Burgas bus bomber 'part of group' Israeli Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov (right)

Source: BBC

The suicide bomber who killed six people in Bulgaria last week was part of a sophisticated group of conspirators, Prime Minister Boiko Borisov has said.

He said the group had arrived in Bulgaria a month before the attack.

But he declined to back Israeli claims that Iran and Lebanese militant group Hezbollah played a role.

---

The identity of the man who carried out the bombing remains unclear.

This is sad - the bombing that is.. Because I have always belived about Bulgaria as one of the more safe country's in the Balkan.. Have been there many times, under and after the cold war ended.. And always being rather safe... Even though the fact that the border police have guns (or at least had it before) in the open was less comforting..

I hope this doesn't kill the tourist industry in Bulgaria - as the country really need their tourist, to get some money. It is a nice country, if some old fashioned as the country IS poor compared to other parts of Europe - but for the most part the people is friendly, the food decent - and you have a lot of sun and really nice beaches.. And all the black Sea you can swallow if need arise. (I learned the hard way to swim, by kind of swallow much of the black Sea many years ago )

Yes, it is very sad. Sounds like a nice place to visit to me. I don't like over-developed places.

For the most part, Bulgaria is indeed a nice place to visit - people is for the most part curious and kind - and I guess the level of service is better than it was last time I was in Bulgaria ... But some do have problems with english - as english is for the most part not the first "second" language for most of East Europa - it is either german or russian.. The golder guards often tend to be fluent in german - and - russian but lack some in the apartment of english, but they try their best to communicate....

The last 20 or so years, have seen a lot of development in Bulgaria - specially in the tourist industry as it is one of the key industry Bulgaria for making hard currency (yeah it is that poor!) but steadily the country have grown to be a nice place to visit, both for the young party lions, but also for the more family oriented couples ho want peace and quiet when they are on hollyday... Sunny Beach outside of Burgas tend to be somewhat on the party side - but Albena up north of Varna (a hour from the Bulgarian-Romanian Border in the Dobrudja area) is more for the family oriented crews... Golden sands who lies between Varna and Burgas is more both sides of the road - some young, but also some older quieter and more oriented for the familiy... And you are for the most part guaranteed one thing SUN. A lot of sun.. Last time I was in Bulgaria, in Albena they had some form of record with 38 C and not below 18 every night.. That was 3 warm weeks But you can always swim then to cool your self down a little..
