Trump demands gold-plated welcome

Source: Times of London

Donald Trump waving from the Queen’s royal carriage is not a scenario many would have foreseen a year ago, but it has become a very real prospect, forcing security services to plan an unprecedented lockdown.

The White House has made clear it regards the carriage procession down the Mall as an essential element of the itinerary for the visit currently planned for the second week of October, according to officials.

Security sources have warned, however, that the procession will require a “monster” security operation, far greater than for any recent state visit.

Barack Obama chose to spare his hosts the task of securing the journey from Horse Guards Parade to Buckingham Palace when he was welcomed by the Queen in 2011. In a slight change of usual protocol President Obama arrived at the palace in an armoured motorcade.

Well, as Rump has given them opportunity to show with less, they're very creative with their insults in the UK. Looking forward to seeing them rise to this challenge.

That carriage doesn't look like it has suspension or shock absorbers. Yes it's historic, but not very comfortable to ride in.
Also what if somebody attempts assassination? It could happen.

Trump should ride in something bullet-proof. Maybe they can borrow the Pope's bullet-proof Pope-mobile.

From a gilded carriage to iron bars.

I think Trump is trying to make himself Too Big To Fail. Imagine what an embarrassment it would be to England, if they host him in the golden carriage at the same time that their intelligence agency is providing the intel for his downfall.

England, my advice: Don't do it. Don't give him the golden treatment.

It is worth 1.57 US dollars, requires eight horses to pull, and due to it's age, weight, and lack of manoeuvrability, it's use has been restricted to coronations, royal weddings, and jubilees of a monarch. It is not used for visiting firemen to tool around in. And with 45 in the Gold State Coach, it would be tooling.

I'd say Hair Furor's chances of riding in the Gold State Coach is only slightly less than being given a mirror and several hours to try on the Crown Jewels.
