A month after dismissing federal prosecutors, Justice Department does not have any U.S. attorneys in place

By Sari Horwitz April 18 at 10:49 PM

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is making aggressive law enforcement a top priority, directing his federal prosecutors across the country to crack down on illegal immigrants and “use every tool” they have to go after violent criminals and drug traffickers.

But the attorney general does not have a single U.S. attorney in place to lead his tough-on-crime efforts across the country. Last month, Sessions abruptly told the dozens of remaining Obama administration U.S. attorneys to submit their resignations immediately — and none of them, or the 47 who had already left, have been replaced.

“We really need to work hard at that,” Sessions said when asked Tuesday about the vacancies as he opened a meeting with federal law enforcement officials. The 93 unfilled U.S. attorney positions are among the hundreds of critical Trump administration jobs that remain open.

Sessions is also without the heads of his top units, including the civil rights, criminal and national security divisions, as he tries to reshape the Justice Department.

Madness!

Is this because they don't want Trump being prosecuted or because they are just lame?

On edit-- at the end of the piece, it says Clinton took several months to fill the positions after they fired the US Attys

Police and law enforcement is all they think you need

Focus on crime and the rest is all private interests. Gives them more
room to maneuver

...but he's pretty much out the door now. So they have to do something, and quickly.

Right now Trump is using his own personal and company lawyers and that's not right either.

that Bannon's plan left with him

They're all still anti-government zealots to give their private interests
laissez-faire total freedom to do as they like

The people Trump installed are undermining their agencies for the same goals

One that will play ball if they tell them not to go after certain people or companies. Thats not easy to do, but they want them filled to go after Democrats and other enemies.

They will have to be anti-gay, anti-civil rights, anti-equal rights, anti-muslim, anti-black, etc.!

It's difficult to find people with all of those qualifications...look how long it took them to find Sessions!!!

he was selected by one of the ringleaders of the coup. He serves a few purposes (and don't forget his ties to Russia) by looking like an inept gomer but he is very devious and self-aggrandizingly power hungry. So now we have an AG who is running interference for the coup while appearing to be the ugly-demon-nightmare-dumb-assed cracker-from-hell. Sadly, he's not as dumb as he looks... and he is a power hungry evil zealot

History will note that the VERY FIRST THING the republicans did after they stole power and took office in 2017, was a botched attempt to shitcan the Ethics Office.

That speaks volumes about the "family values" of the KGOP. Make no mistake. They are who they are.

People are being indicted and prosecuted every day across this country. It doesn't slow because no one has the official job.
