Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly on Saturday predicted that President Donald Trump will be insistent on including funding for his proposed border wall in a spending bill that Congress must pass to avoid a government shutdown.
Will the President go to the mat and insist on funding his border wall as part of the stopgap government funding measure? CNNs Dana Bash asked Kelly.
I think it goes without saying that the President has been pretty straightforward about his desire and the need for a border wall, Kelly said. So I would suspect hell do the right thing for sure, but I would suspect he will be insistent on the funding.

(115,587 posts)Shutting down the government because Congress won't authorize money for a wall we were promised Mexico would pay for is likely to go over like a turd in the punchbowl. I suspect this is the usual Trumpian bluster, though.

Wonder if Trumpers are happy with this.

(10,129 posts)the further these worshipers are from Mexico. I'm still waiting for one of them to explain how building a wall between CA/AZ/NM/TX and Mexico will bring mid-20th century jobs back to Ohio or Kentucky.

Let him veto the CR, he's the one that will pay the price. Let him shut down the government because he wants to take away people's health care, he will pay the price. This could even affect me personally if it goes on long enough as I'm retiring this fall. My husband will still be working, so not planning on taking out any SS $ right away and we can always delay the vaca to NY we had planned. I'll gladly sacrifice my vacation for the cause. I just feel sorry for those whose existence is funded solely by SS checks and hate what that fucking asshole will do to them out of sheer greed and meanness.
