Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is back on speaking terms with President Donald Trump but said in an interview with BuzzFeed News published Saturday that the subject of their conversations are not always productive.
When I talk to him, I try to talk to him about serious issues and he just changes the subject, Schumer told the site. I told him we want to work with him where we can work with him, we want to work with him on a big infrastructure bill America needs to rebuild its infrastructure, havent gotten anywhere with him.
He listens to what I have to say on the important subject of the day and then he talks about what he wants to talk about, Schumer continued.
Schumer didnt have many kind words for the President in the interview, saying that Trumps comments that he thought the presidency would be easier should be a wake-up call.

(26,280 posts)office not that the Repugnants in Congress care because as long as they can use him to get what they want passed they will keep him in office and they will only remove him if he starts blocking them and becomes a hindrance.

(4,919 posts)He reminds me of my mother, a malignant narcissist... years ago when she was in the very early stages of Alzheimer's. She was in denial, very defensive about accomplishments/skills, revisiting the past, etc.
This will end badly.

(30,247 posts)He changes the subject because he knows squat about governing and policy, as Republicans soon found out when he became their nominee. Several Republicans offered to tutor him and soon realized that they were wasting their time. The guy is an intellectual wasteland.

(12,882 posts)and THERE'S part of the problem. As with those who tried to act as if everything King George did was just business as usual - we get clowns like Schumer who try to treat him like a regular guy! Schumer and ALL the rest in DC - when asked about Trump, should have ONE three-word answer to every query: "Trump's a FRAUD!"

(12,882 posts)As whack-O as he is, the responsibility rests squarely on the shoulders of those who were/are as stupid as he is - people who think putting world matters in order is equal to cutting your back lawn or trimming the shrubs. "Dummies for Dummies" should be a historical book about this whole debacle.

Every one of Peter Finch's rants is right on the money. Not to mention William Holden's assessment of Faye Dunaway's character. This was in 1976.

Many Republicons woke up (maybe even a majority of them), but only a very few stood by their intellectual realization. Of those who did wake up, almost all let their irrational hatred of Clinton and Obama override their reason.
Many other Republicons are only beginning to wake up now and feel stuck.

(5,801 posts)that dump's mental deficiencies including the inability to pay attention or process complex information were well known and documented by multiple sources including longtime NY journalists, biographer David Cay Johnston, and so on. The information was out there. The corporate media who were making $$$ off dump chose to ignore or downplay the evidence. The idiots who voted for dump didn't care.

(46,070 posts)I'd tried to implore him to either pay his bills or let me do it for him. And 30 seconds later, he'd be obsessively talking about dogs, FOX News, or the like and we weren't going to settle anything for the moment.
Epilogue: When Dad died, I found six months of bills accumulated. As he chose his law firm to be both his Executor and legal representative for his estate, it cost $600 hourly for them to pay his bills which obviously reduced the value of the Estate. (Don't worry for my share being reduced: Dad disinherited me!)
