Fox, Blackstone Said Teaming to Make Competing Tribune Bid

Source: bloomberg

Twenty-First Century Fox Inc. is teaming with Blackstone Group LP to make an offer to acquire TV-station owner Tribune Media Co., rivaling a planned bid by Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., people familiar with the situation said.

The all-cash bid would be funded by Blackstone while Fox would contribute its TV stations to the joint venture that would acquire Tribune, said one of the people, who declined to be identified because the talks are private. The two sides are in talks about a deal ahead of a deadline this week for final bids. No agreement has yet been reached and talks may still fall apart.

Fox has been approached in recent weeks about backing an alternative to a takeover by Hunt Valley, Maryland-based Sinclair. which has been looking to acquire Chicago-based Tribune for a price said to be in the high-$30s a share. A combination of Tribune and Sinclair, two of the country’s biggest TV station owners, would give Sinclair a stronger negotiating hand with Fox about how to split fees from cable providers.

Sinclair has a feature on all it's newscasts from the "Terrorism Desk" that blows incidents in foreign countries out of proportion as a reason to incite fear into it's watchers. Fox or Sinclair both are bad

Both outlets are hardcore propaganda pushers. All three branches of govt right now will not block such a merger/buyout. This is really bad news.

Tho I personally think Sinclair is the worse one. Their propaganda is so blatant subversive, and they directly control lots of local stations which will end up catching people who've dropped out of cable/satellite.

and how many "owners" there were then and now, there would be a correlation of how dumbing down this country has gotten .
All one has to do is look at these same entities and then look a radio, that is prime example of the shit, and the shoveling of more shit, and how much this shit is being shoveled into the campaigns of shit , mostly right wing shit. Tell me how many "liberal" stations are on the air, as we speak right now, if you do not have cable or satellite.
And if you do have cable, how many, and if you have satellite how many, 9 to 1 (strictly owned by people like Free Speech TV and there donations to survive)----------------------this is amazing

And Sinclair is fighting over Fox to control my air waves, that are publicly licensed by you and me and who should have them.

Neither one should own those stations, you and I own those stations-------------or am I missing something here, where is the neutrality, there is none
