China demands halt to US missile shield in S.Korea

Source: Agence France-Press

China demanded on Tuesday an immediate halt to a controversial US missile shield hours after Washington announced that the defence system was now operational in South Korea.

Washington and Seoul agreed to the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery deployment in July in the wake of a string of North Korean missile tests.

But its deployment has infuriated China, which fears it will weaken its own ballistic missile capabilities and says it upsets the regional security balance.

"We oppose the deployment of the THAAD system in (South Korea) and urge relevant sides to immediately stop the deployment. We will firmly take necessary measures to uphold our interests," foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular press briefing.

Splash defensive systems all over the front fucking pages then become suprised when other countries, non-friendly countries like China, start an international drama over his stupidity.

Great, just great Donnie.

They allowed their Korean puppet to become the dangerous nutjob he has. From Kim's grandfather to his dad, China stood there, protecting a country that is a huge destabilization for the region. No one knows what they'll do next. We don't want Kim to have nukes for the same reason we don't want the local crazy guy to have weapons (see: stabbing on UT Austin campus). You never know what the'll do.
We're always told that NK could obliterate Seoul in a few hours if war were to break out. NK has thousands of weapons trained on the city. Hundreds of thousands to a million people could die if that happens. If a missile shield can mitigate that, I'm ok with it. Screw China.

7. Agreed, if China honestly is afraid of the defense system then the solution is to remove Lil Kim

the citizens of Seoul sleep better with a huge North Korean gun pointed at their head. Nothing wrong with a bit of insurance.
China needs to do more to reign in that crazy country.

next door neighbor is a right wing gun nut who drinks on the back porch everyday shooting at targets in his yard . Are you going to get under his window at night banging pots and pans? Probably not. One can only imagine how it must be to live like that (and remember, they can't just pick up and move).

Comparing their military to North Korea it looks as though they could put up a pretty good account of themselves.
