GOP senator: Special prosecutor 'on the table'

Source: The Hill

LAS VEGAS — Sen. Dean Heller (R) said Friday he believes a special prosecutor should be appointed to look into links between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives if investigations currently ongoing in the House and Senate encounter obstacles.

Heller, the most vulnerable Republican senator up for re-election in 2018, said he was troubled by Trump’s claim that he was thinking about current investigations when he made the decision to fire FBI director James Comey this week.

“I'm uncomfortable with the timing of all this, and that's why I think an independent prosecutor should be on the table if in fact the select committee in the Senate and the House cannot get to answers,” Heller told reporters after addressing a local chamber of commerce event.

Is this the first repuke to advocate a special prosecutor? If so, the cracks are forming.

5. Any special prosecutor

is going to have to have independence from party, and integrity

and, they're going to have to rely on information already gathered by
career IC personnel

and they're going to need space and lots of money

So there are choke points the GOP can control, all the while dodging
cries of 'fake Democrat news' from the land of Orange.

This has mountains to climb

11. No that wasn't Harry Reid's seat. A Dem got that one in 2016.

Catherine Cortez Masto.

This guy's seat is up next year and since NV has been going blue, he is probably the most vulnerable of those up next year.

8. The GOP Senators up for reelection next year will play this game:

May 2017

They will be very reasonable and open to getting rid of Trump, working seriously on health care, looking hard at climate issues.

Not making any promises, mind you but being oh so reasonable and open minded. Once they are elected all that talk will disappear.

The way to win against them will be to point out that a vote for ANY republican Senator is a vote for Trump, a vote for death-care and a vote for anti-science. What an (R) candidate says means NOTHING as long they they control the House and Senate.

This needs to be said over and over.

Doesn't get things done. Just words. As long as the GOP has a majority in Congress, they will obstruct.
