Antonio Sabto Jr. Divorcing Wife Amid Drug Abuse Allegations

Antonio Sabàto Jr. and his wife Cheryl Marie are calling it quits after five years of marriage.

The former soap star, who recently announced plans to run for U.S. Congress, reportedly filed for divorce back in December 2016, according to TMZ. Sabato Jr. is seeking joint custody of their 6-year-old son, Antonio Kalani, while Marie is asking for sole physical custody over concerns for her child’s safety.

Marie is claiming in documents obtained by the media outlet that her estranged husband struggles with drug abuse. The television presenter and former beauty pageant winner alleges that Sabato Jr. admitted to using crystal meth before they started dating, but has more recently abused benzodiazepines, a class of drugs that are primarily taken for treating anxiety and sleeping disorders.

While Sabato Jr. admits to seeking treatment for an addiction to sleeping pills in the past, he denies the other allegations. A representative for the actor told HuffPost that the accusations are “unfounded,” but as the divorce proceedings are ongoing, he has no statement at this time.

p.s. Oh, and the Huffpo story contains the little tidbit that this beauty thinks he's blacklisted from getting acting jobs because he's a puke. Yeah, that stopped GOPee actors like Clint Eastwood, Patricia Heaton, Tim Allen, Arnold Gropenator, ad nauseum from getting work. How about "You can't act" as a reason?

Dude probably got hooked on meth, started taking xanax/valium to come down/sleep, eventually realized kicking meth ain't really all that hard (seriously ... it's not, in the grand scheme of drug withdrawals) ... then found that getting off the benzos was a whole different level of hell, and may well still struggle with them.

Kicking meth is mostly about getting over some bad cravings and tiredness.

Kicking benzos, depending how deep you got into them ... is a descent into hell that easily gives heroin a run for it's money ... I know people who've kicked both and say heroin is less bad because it's at least a somewhat 'familiar' feeling (like a really, really horrible flu in many regards) whereas benzos combines terrible physical sickness with a completely foreign out-of-body 'weirdness' that's just unspeakably disorienting and scary.

People die cold-kicking benzos, that's how f-d up it is. Very rare for that to happen from opioids unless you're very unhealthy otherwise.

years ago. Their son was little then. He told her that the other wife had a point about some things they could change. She flipped out. She refused to go home with him. The limo took her to a hotel room. So it seems like their relationship was rocky since the beginning.

I thought he was so handsome years ago ( on GH and Janet Jackson's video). Now the more he talks makes him ugly. Now I cringe when I see him..
