Chaffetz will resign at end of June

Source: The Hill

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) announced Thursday that he will resign his House seat at the end of June.

"This week I sent a letter to Governor Herbert indicating my intention to resign from Congress effective June 30, 2017," Chaffetz wrote in a letter to his constituents.

Chaffetz said he viewed his service in Congress as a temporary position, not a lifetime career.

"Serving you in the U.S. House of Representatives for nearly nine years has been a rare honor and privilege. When I first ran for Congress in 2008 I promised I would get in, serve, and get out. I told voters I did not believe Congress should be a lifetime career. I knew from day one that my service there would not last forever," he wrote.

The only bad news is that his replacement will not be any better.

like Jason Chaffetz into the family of a great guy like Michael Dukakis?

I hope he is censured before he resigns. Of course, he won't be.

That didn't stop him from dragging Hillary Clinton through the, what, eleventh Republican helmed investigation on Benghazi.

I hear he wants to become a major conservative media figure. There are billions to be made there.

Anyone in media who hires him is really stupid. He needs to do some actual work for a change - maybe on a chain gang.

and deciding that you want to be elected in November but not finish even half of a two-year term. But we know that wasn't the real reason, anyway.
