Bernie Sanders: "The Republican Party is really right-wing extremist"

Source: ZEIT ONLINE

Bernie Sanders sees increasing resistance to Donald Trump. He said that everything would be done to offer a strong opposition to the US president, he told ZEIT.

According to Bernie Sanders , the opposition to President Donald Trump is growing in the US . He was very satisfied that an "incredibly strong grassroots opposition" was forming against Trump , Sanders told ZEIT. There would be resistance everywhere, "and I believe this will increase."

Sanders had campaigned for the US election for the presidential candidate for the Democrats, but lost to Hillary Clinton. The democrat, who describes himself as a "democratic socialist", had addressed young voters with his left demands, such as a comprehensive health insurance or the abolition of study fees. Even after Trumps election victory against Clinton, he committed himself to a policy change .

"I can only say to our European friends that we are working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to give this man a strong opposition," Sanders told ZEIT. "I think we're making progress." The Republican Party, which belongs to Trump, has developed in a very disturbing way. In the 60 years after President Dwight D. Eisenhower the party had slipped very far to the right. Now she was "really right-wing". Next week Sanders' book Our Revolution will be published in German.

Trump is currently on a nine-day journey to West Jordan. Previously he was in Saudi Arabia and Israel, and further stations are Rome, Brussels and Sicily. In the US, it is because of Russia affair under pressure: Democrats and even some Republicans accuse the president before, with the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey ongoing investigations hindered to have. The US federal police authority investigates whether there have been connections and agreements between Trumps election campaign team and Russia.

When they tip too far, right or left, they belly up. The GOP is taking on a lot of water these days.

They've been tipped over since the 80's, with Trickle Down Economic BS. When they falter, they just STEAL the election somehow, so they're never going to go belly up. I'll believe it when I see it. An Impeachment, which will probably not even happen, is STILL NOT ENOUGH. If there was the fraud of a level I'm sure there was, the repubs should not have the Presidency for the next 45 months, and that's never going to be possible. Just proves that it's worth it to cheat and win, even if you end up getting caught.

Especially if the Dems cannot win over the House in 2018 which would be difficult to say the least. The only difference between a Trump presidency and a Pence, or Ryan, or whatever GOP fool ends up in the WH, is we won't be subjected to daily disasters. They will instead quietly go on with their work of dissembling first Obama's accomplishments, and then instituting their own budgets which usually are only about taking from the treasury to give to themselves and their donors and friends, stealing from safety net funds and anything that makes life easier for people in the 99%, and bankrupting the country.

They know that once they've laid the country to waste, the Democrats might win but they will be stuck with cleaning up their mess again and thus won't be able to fund their own campaign promises to help the 99%. So then they will be lambasted for the terrible economy that Republicans fomented. Rinse and repeat.

But yeah, it sucks that they will be able to do basically whatever they want, Trump or no Trump, for 45 months. They allowed Trump to use whatever means he wanted to win, no matter how treasonous, so they could ride his coat tails. That is all they really wanted. Now they have the majority on the SCOTUS and Citizens United is here to stay. Russian oligarchs can secretly now fund someone else next time.

In fact, I would submit that without the existence of the Republican party, we would see progressive movement that would transform this planet to a utopia of peace and humanity for all. We need to hasten that day.
