Trump's impatience with GOP grows

An impatient President Trump is putting new pressure on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to get rid of the filibuster in order to speed progress on legislation repealing ObamaCare and reforming the tax code.
In a message posted Tuesday on Twitter, Trump urged Republican senators to invoke the so-called nuclear option and switch to 51 votes, immediately, and get Healthcare and TAX CUTS approved, fast and easy. Trump also suggested his party wasnt as cutthroat as Democrats when it comes to passing legislation, writing, Dems would do it, no doubt!
Its just Trumps latest attempt to press McConnell to eliminate the power to filibuster legislation, something Republican lawmakers firmly rejected when the president floated the idea only a few weeks ago.
That he used Twitter to do so was no surprise but may have irritated McConnell, who has urged the president to rethink his use of social media.

Then he discovered that world leaders didn't quake in fear and say 'yassa' to whatever he wanted them to do. And now he shows that he doesn't have a clue how the filibuster works or why no party want's to get rid of it.
The filibuster was originally designed to prevent the 'tyranny of the majority'. It still serves that function, but it has evolved into having another important (albeit a political) function. If there is a bill that the Executive is clamoring for, but the constituency hates, the majority party can vote FOR it, secure in the knowledge that the minority party will filibuster it. So they can honestly say to the Executive and to the folks back home, 'Voters, we tried. We really tried. But those folks across the aisle filibustered it'. So, neat political cover.
It was frustrating during Obama, if may be a life-saver (literally) under 45.

It's now proven that this is the only way that side of the aisle can win the White House. They can only win when they cheat.
