GM to eliminate 2nd shift at Michigan factory

Source: mlive.com

May 31, 2017 at 9:24 PM........................

The Warren Transmission Plant will go down to one shift by late June, GM said.

"Recent actions to reduce passenger car production have caused us to adjust transmission production," according to a statement the company sent to employees on May 31.

It continued: "This action will help maintain more stable production and provide the smallest impact to plant employment going forward."

The factory in Macomb County, north of Detroit, produces transmissions for the Chevrolet Traverse, Malibu, Equinox and Impala; GMC Acadia and Terrain; Buick Enclave and Regal, and Cadillac XTS.

and it voted for trump. I will never understand why blue collar union people would vote Republican. They are the type of people who think the benefits and protections they get from their unions would be there without the unions. Many of them are retired plant workers with great benefits still and they vote R.

They'd be paid minimum wage and no overtime if Republicans had their way. There really is no way to cure their willful ignorance.

"Details on the changes are not being released for competitive reasons, GM said."

when it comes to taxes and economic growth, your tax model based on supply economics is a failure, you still screwed pensioners.

You have built two new stadiums with tax payer funded money, while the two owners of the stadiums got big old tax breaks, that is a fact, because after all they threatened to move out of the state if they didn't get there new toys.

Then you have Flint and the surrounding issue of the clean water in that area, is your state going to put that money to use for the "taxpayers" in Flint, to get the dirty water that is still flowing through the pipes?

"The problem could plague the city for many more years as old pipes are replaced. People there are also paying some of the highest water rates in the United States."

So Michigan your state government is full of sh*t

preaching an anti-free trade agenda which is not your typical Republican stance but it resonated with a big chunk of the Bernie crowd in those states and it was just barely enough to flip those states in his favor. It still boggles the mind though that these blue collar folks fell hook line and sinker for his snake oil salesman act. But Trump's clever spin on it was, "Yeah I'm a sleazy, greedy and corrupt businessman but that's why I'm the guy you want because I know how the system works!" It makes about as much sense as putting David Duke in charge of the NAACP but people bought it.

the fact GM & Ford have collaborated on a 10 speed new transmission that is going on line in most new 2018 "rear wheel" drive GM cars and trucks.
