Trump administration approves tougher visa vetting, including social media checks

By Yeganeh Torbati | WASHINGTON

The Trump administration has rolled out a new questionnaire for U.S. visa applicants worldwide that asks for social media handles for the last five years and biographical information going back 15 years.

The new questions, part of an effort to tighten vetting of would-be visitors to the United States, was approved on May 23 by the Office of Management and Budget despite criticism from a range of education officials and academic groups during a public comment period.

Critics argued that the new questions would be overly burdensome, lead to long delays in processing and discourage international students and scientists from coming to the United States.

Under the new procedures, consular officials can request all prior passport numbers, five years' worth of social media handles, email addresses and phone numbers and 15 years of biographical information including addresses, employment and travel history. (bit.ly/2qBSrpv)

Unless, of course, you throw money at him. Then you could be a goddamned terrorist for all he cares.

Foreign Tourist are avoiding the USA bigly. These stupid people have no clue. How many Billions will be lost in HOTEL BOOKINGS.

Here in Vegas, the one item that does not get reported with the Casino Monthly gross revenue and Bookings is the Foreign Tourist numbers. The last time that number was published was the end of January. Gee,you think we should know those numbers, but instead, most of the Casino's have raised their Eatery Prices as well as charging for Parking. Still have a Couple Joints that offer free Parking.

The day of the Comp's are pretty much gone. Oh btw,get use to 12 dollar drinks.

As if no one ever thought about multiple identities/accounts on social media sites. Unless the govt can just order up everyone's internet bread crumb trail.
