GOP Sen. Not Optimistic Senate Will Approve O'care Replacement This Year

Source: Talking Points Memo

By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published JUNE 2, 2017 8:50 AM

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) on Thursday indicated that he’s not optimistic about the Senate’s chances to pass a comprehensive bill to repeal and replace Obamacare this year.

“I don’t see a comprehensive health-care plan this year,” he told North Carolina television station WXII 12 News. Burr also said that the House bill is “dead on arrival” in the Senate.

The senator’s comments come after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said last week that he’s not sure how the Senate will pass an Obamacare repeal bill.

“I don’t know how we get to 50 at the moment,” he told Reuters. “But that’s the goal.”

They just want to get rid of it and use that as some justification to give even more tax cuts to the ruling class.

4. Neither chamber has scheduled a single hearing

related to anything to do with the debacle they have created. Not a one. It took almost a full year of hearings, in both chambers, among a multitude of committees and sub-committees, to come up with the ACA. And that was after having some draft documents as a framework already in hand to use as a starting point and data from a couple states (including MA & TN) that had some sort of "universal" healthcare program in place to use as pilots.

I.e., you can't just vomit forth a "replacement" in a few weeks, in a backroom, with no hearings or debate, and have it ready for a vote... But you can repeal the existing and commit suicide in the process.

Their problem is - the ACA WAS "their plan" straight from Heritage, but since the black President shepherded it through, it's automatically deemed "unacceptable", so they have nowhere to go and nothing left that can be done from the RW side. But it can go "left" with a public option or "universal" (Medicare for all).

5. I think the subpar Congress has begun to realize they are going to be voted out of office in '18.

Now it is the time to strike and get Democrats to run for office and beat the snot out of them.

Throw them all out, even the "bluedog democrats".

6. Here's an idea, stop trying to take $ from the poor and give to the rich.

Once you put the taxes back in and stop the Medicaid cuts, it'll be a lot easier to work with and have real coverage that's actually affordable. Of course, Repugs don't really want good healthcare for the poor and working poor, they'd rather they died when seriously injured or gravely ill and that's the whole problem.
