Source: Variety
Bill Maher has issued an apology for using the N-word on Fridays edition of HBOs Real Time with Bill Maher.
Maher said in a statement: Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because Im up reflecting on the things I should or shouldnt have said on my live show. Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry.

(108,959 posts)and rather ironic that he apologizes for what the majority on this site has defended him for.
Waiting for the apology from all his defenders now that even he admits it was wrong.

(17,255 posts)Maher has a reputation for being combative. It's best that he realizes that there is no justifying the use of that term in the name of comedy. That said, I hope everyone can move on. Those who never thought highly of Maher will continue to dislike him. The rest of us will take the bad with the good -- as long as he stays within reasonable boundaries, and that still gives him considerable latitude. He can still be "edgy" without crossing the line. Same lesson Kathy Griffin just learned.

(35,950 posts)As for his commentary about the mule that does nothing while it's being flogged, I can see how Maher feels as if he's doing more to fight "the low" than our "house" Democratic leaders are.
I hope Pelosi, Durbin and the rest of those hand wringers saw his commentary, too.
