Hank Williams Jr. back on Monday Night Football

Source: Sports Illustrated

ESPN says they are bringing back country star Hank Williams Jr. to sing the "Monday Night Football" theme.

The Worldwide Leader parted ways with Williams in 2011 after he make some remarks about former President Barack Obama following a golf outing with then-Rep. House Speaker John Boehner.

Williams compared the outing to a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and German dictator Adolf Hitler.

Williams' new version of the "All My Rowdy Friends" theme will debut on Monday, Sept. 11 before the game between the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings. The new video was filmed on Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee.

Its not the only questionable thing Williams has said since being let go by ESPN for his dumb remarks.

"We've got a Muslim for a president who hates cowboys, hates cowgirls, hates fishing, hates farming, loves gays, and we hate him!" Williams said while headlining the Stockyards Music Festival in 2012, according to Thor Christensen of the Dallas Morning News.

"ARE YOU READY FOR SOME STOOOOOPIDDD?!?!?!?!"

All the commentators freaking out over Kathy Griffin will be fine with this racist, anti-American, bigot and homophobe getting his job back, despite showing no remorse for his remarks.
----
Oh, and if you have a problem with rewarding this bigot, ESPN has already considered your views and decided you don't matter:

Stephanie Druley, ESPNs vice president of events and studio production, says she expects there will be some backlash, but ESPN is comfortable with it.

It was the right time, Druley said. We discussed it internally and it was just the right time to bring him back.

To make a list of advertisers. Then post the list here on DU.

That way I don't have to sit through it to get a list of companies to write to. If enough flak comes at the fat pig, we might get him booted again.

If Hank jr is associated with it I will not watch for sure. I got enough of him in the 80's he came to our town for a concert. The bum showed up 3 hours late and was too drunk to sing a whole song. I forgive his bad habits but will never trust him for anything again.

My cable bill, which I paid today, was $147. Ridiculous. Over the summer we really don't watch much anyway.

The biggest reason I want to get rid of cable tv is because I keep catching my husband watching FauxNews. I thought about putting a parental control on it, but I thought he might catch on. I don't want to say he's stupid, but he did vote for the orange pus. Something definitely happened to his brain.

Anyway, thanks for mentioning Sling.

Having been a working musician for at least part of my life, I know that most musicians know about doodly squat about the world outside the music business. The vast majority are nice people and some are fairly well educated, but why the media goes nuts over every thing they say is beyond me. As far as Monday night football, I could care less. I'll just head for the Monday night jam as usual.

I'm fine with this no talent, trading on my dad's legacy pricks song being used, as long as MNF hires Kathy Griffin as a sideline reporter.

Maybe Goodell has an undiagnosed concussion. I don't see this as "building the NFL brand"
