INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Twelve employees of a Democrat-linked group focused on mobilizing black voters in Indiana are accused of submitting fake or fraudulent voter registration applications ahead of last years general election in order to meet quotas, according to charging documents filed Friday.
Prosecutors allege that 11 temporary workers employed by the Indiana Voter Registration Project created and submitted an unknown number of falsified applications. According to a probable cause affidavit, a supervisor for those canvassers, Holiday Burke, was also charged, as was the group.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said State Police found no evidence of voter fraud or voter suppression and that the charges against the workers arose from a very bad, ill-advised business practice of setting canvassers what appears to be a daily quota.
The Indiana Voter Registration Projects effort to register primarily black voters was overseen by Patriot Majority USA, which has ties to the Democratic Party, including Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and former President Bill Clinton.

(82,849 posts)When ACORN started gaining success in registering voters, Republicans figured they could get in on the action, too. Unfortunately, Republicans found that some of the people they got registered to vote checked the Democrat box on their registration. No problem, they just shit-canned those cards.
So legislatures passed laws in various states that said if you were going to register voters, you had to turn in all the cards, not just the ones you liked. Not willing to comply, Republicans began filling out voter registration cards in the name of Mickey Mouse or Bubbles LaRue, and siccing the county registrar on voter registration folks for fraudulent voter registrations. In response, Democrats began flagging registrations that looked suspect for the benefit of the registrars. Thats when Republicans again put their imaginations to work, and decided to just start passing voter ID laws to keep undesirables (read: Democrats) from registering to vote. They also bought billboards with the ominous message that casting a fraudulent ballot could cost you a hefty fine or send you to jail, further depressing turnout. Oddly, those billboards appeared only in neighborhoods with Democratic demographics, along with flyers and door-hangers left on cars and front doors.
Well see what comes of this, but I suspect that the alarmist quota (I wonder why that particular word was used?) allegation will turn out to be a bit of an overstatement.

(377 posts)A fake registration does nothing but clutter the books. Mickey Mouse and Pluto can register. If they show up at the poll to vote, that could be a problem.

(121 posts)These fake registrations would have hurt democrats more than anything. It's people charging money to the DNC and providing them with absolutely no benefit. Of course, Republicans will be shouting "See look voter fraud!"... but that will just be when they take a break from shouting "Science is Fake News!!!".
