Sessions to testify before Senate intelligence panel

Source: CNN

(CNN) Attorney General Jeff Sessions has announced he will appear before the Senate intelligence committee rather than House and Senate appropriations subcommittees on Tuesday, saying Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will testify on the latter panels in his place.

In a letter Saturday to the Senate Appropriations subcommittee chairman, Richard Shelby of Alabama, Sessions said the change in venue would be more appropriate for expected questions on the issues raised by former FBI Director James Comey's testimony to the intelligence committee Thursday.

"The Senate Intelligence Committee is the most appropriate forum for such matters, as it has been conducting an investigation and has access to relevant, classified information," Sessions explained.

It is unclear whether the upcoming intelligence committee hearing will be open or closed.

Short article.

EDIT: Article updated -

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Saturday that he plans to testify before the Senate intelligence committee Tuesday, but it was not immediately clear if he would testify in public or private.

The move is a prominent switch from his previous plans to testify publicly on the Justice Department's budget and puts him more directly in the firing line over questions about his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the United States and a federal investigation into Russian attempts to influence the 2016 election.

Sessions had been scheduled to testify Tuesday before the House and Senate subcommittees that oversee his department's budget, but Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will go before them instead, he said Saturday in letters to the chairmen of those subcommittees.

"Some members have publicly stated their intention to focus their questions on issues related to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, from which I have recused, and for which the deputy attorney general appointed a special counsel, " Sessions wrote.

who the Kremlin's man is inside the U.S. government?

If anyone saw "Hunt for Red October", remember how they had
an under-cover KGB agent PLUS a trusted Kremlin political officer, Ivan Putin to monitor all activity, etc?

There must be something similar in the White House, Congress, etc.

for LYING, why not one more time, since he has NO balls to tell the truth.

If I were to lie to Congress or for that matter in any court I would be in jail looking at 5 years.

Oh I forgot he has to go in front the Eastern District Grand Jury, to explain why he lied the first time and basically the second time, in his worthless letter , I'm betting it's close, just like the mark-up in the health care sh*t going on over in the other senate BS run buy the Orrin Hatch's of the world, where Claire asked if she could put an amendment in that death panel bill , and captain doofus Hatch looked at her like she just came landed from Mars

This country is so fucked

and talks out of both sides of his mouth. MY Aunt lives in Utah, and I know that she is only one person, but she says it is amazing how how Chaffetz and this twit(s) go around and side with being a patriot, but at the same time letting jerks like the Bundy clan mooch off your and my land from the BLM and trying to open it up for destruction, it is just amazing.

He can crawl underneath his rock and just do what snakes do-------hypocrite a being, and getting his health care being exempted from this mark-up while everyone else gets screwed, what a right wing plutocratic supporting Russian oligarchy fascist republican american
