Adviser: Romney would back strike against Iran
Source: AP
JERUSALEM (AP) -- A senior adviser says Mitt Romney would back an Israeli military strike against Iran aimed at preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear capability.
Ahead of a Sunday speech in Jerusalem, Romney foreign policy adviser Dan Senor tells reporters that "if Israel has to take action on its own" to prevent Iran from being able to make the materials that could be used for a bomb, Romney "would respect that decision."
That's a more aggressive posture than Romney has previously taken. In Sunday's speech, he plans to tell Israelis and watching Americans that he and America "will not look away" from Iran if he is president.

(14,881 posts)he has already said he wants to dramatically increase the defense budget.
There is only one motive behind any of Mitt's actions. More money for him. I'm a spiritual, not a religious person, but he really needs to look at the bible. That one passage that says something about the love of money and the root of all evil. He is the personification of it.

This among so many other things goes to demonstrate just how unqualified he is, and yet the dummies in this country may just vote for him
I suggest if romney feels all that bombastic, his sons should enlist

(10,857 posts)The most important ones, to me, are the backflips the press has to do every day to keep it a race. They've already resorted to disproportionate coverage of the opposition candidate, heavy reliance on and attention to outlier polls, attempting to stay within the issue framework provided by the opposition candidate (nearly impossible because Romney cannot stay on one side of an issue for 72 hours, but they're trying), and refusal to correct disinformation-spewing guests.
This time, the media has two reasons to make it look like a close race: their jobs depend upon high ratings, and those in front of the cameras and in the boardrooms are some of the few Americans who would personally benefit from a Romney presidency. They were never honest nor honorable, but they're even less of those things now than the last time this happened in 1996.
But keep in mind the tactic is for the benefit of the journo-entertainment industry, or whatever they call their tripe now, not Mitt Romney. The object is not to create a grand deception so that Romney can get close enough steal it (that was 2004). The object is to meet the personal and corporate revenue goals of the people controlling that industry.
They get more benefit out of a three-month long train wreck than anything else, so Romney isn't going to get a lot of favors from the press beyond the "close race" deception I described above--and, to save their own reputations, they'll have to frantically walk back all of their summer reporting in the three days before the election, just as they did in 1996.
You'll know I'm right and win a chuckle for it on Sunday, November 3rd, when the editorial pages of all the newspapers suddenly shift tone to a "we knew it all along" message. Until then, it's all a bunch of crap we can largely ignore or laugh at.

But Iran put a generation in jail and isn't eager to hand guns to 20-somethings. Pity you didn't notice that, Mitt, you twit.

(593 posts)Report: US Presents Israel With Iran Strike Plan
JERUSALEM (AP) An Israeli newspaper reported Sunday that the Obama administration's top security official has briefed Israel on U.S. plans for a possible attack on Iran, seeking to reassure it that Washington is prepared to act militarily should diplomacy and sanctions fail to pressure Tehran to abandon its nuclear enrichment program.
Haaretz said National Security Adviser Tom Donilon laid out the plans before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a dinner at a visit to Israel earlier this month. It cited an unidentified senior American official as the source of its report, which came out as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was telling Israel he would back an Israeli military strike against Iran.
The American official also said Donilon shared information on U.S. weapons that could be used for such an attack, and on the U.S. military's ability to reach Iranian nuclear facilities buried deep underground, the newspaper said. It cited another U.S. official involved in the talks with Israel as concluding that "the time for a military operation against Iran has not yet come."
.....
Both Israel and the U.S. think Iran's ultimate aim is to develop weapons....
