Special counsel Robert Mueller has hired 13 lawyers for his probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 investigation and plans on hiring several more, a spokesman for Mueller told Talking Points Memo on Friday.
In addition to Mr. Mueller, we have 13 attorneys on board, with several more in the pipeline, Muellers spokesman, Peter Carr, told TPM in an email. The number of people will be determined by the needs of the investigation.
CNN first reported on the expansion of Muellers staff Friday.
On Wednesday, the Washington Post reported that Muellers investigation included possible obstruction of justice by President Donald Trump. Trump himself wrote on Twitter Friday morning that he was being investigated for firing the FBI Director.
Past reports on Muellers lawyers have referred to them as an all-star team, and a Murderers Row, references to their experience with high-profile cases.

So at least 5 or 6.
But what I like is the difference between the NY recently and in 1999. Now having a bunch of lawyers is a great and glorious thing, done out of purely altruistic and patriotic reasons. Any connections between these lawyers only stand to reason, because at that level of expertise of course they know each other. It's a question no True American would raise.
Back in 1999, the NYT made it sound like the outside lawyers were a private, secret cabal secretly manipulating Starr into building the Paula Jones case into something it wasn't for political or monetary or personal reasons.

"Seems to me Mueller will have to investigate who actually did the hacking of DNC computers was it the Russians or someone else and if they discover the real reason the DNC is dead. This will be a self-inflicted wound by the DNC or whomever made up the Trump colludes with Russia op."
