Incoming GOP chair of House Oversight Committee says hes completely dropping Russia investigation

Source: Raw Story

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who is taking over the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from the departing Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), said on Friday that he will not pursue any investigation into Russian interference into the 2016 presidential election.

Politico reports that Gowdy told reporters on Friday that he “wants to return the Oversight panel to its original ‘compulsory’ jurisdiction, including overseeing more mundane issues like government procurement and the Census.”

In making his case for dropping the probe, Gowdy said that he didn’t want to interfere with the work being done by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, and he suggested that the House Judiciary Committee and the House Intelligence Committee were more natural fits to investigate the scandal.

Gowdy also ruled out looking into whether Trump White House adviser Jared Kushner’s security clearance should be revoked.

Maybe he'll wait until the Senate investigation is shelved first. Until there won't be any active investigations. This hiring and firing, stopping and starting, circus will go on. At least until Trump can be assured that a new investigation will be overseen by a true believing crony.

It makes no difference if the "fake" MSM news, and Democrats are screaming about it. As long as Trump, and Mitch and Paul R. know they have their base backing them up and believing anything they say, milking their persecution complex, they could last it out. Eventually buy off enough witnesses, and destroy what evidence they can. Maybe start another war somewhere to further obscure and wag the dog in order for even the "liberal media" to concede how Trump is finally acting like a true President and protecting the country etc.

And it will slowly fade into the background and history like Bush senior's incubator false flag that started the first Iraq war and Bush Jrs false flag about uranium tubes, and WMD to start the second Iraq war. And all the filthy lucre that circle of traitors looted for themselves while sending American kids to their deaths for made up reasons.

Republicans know that they only have to obfuscate and delay, no matter the howls, because another overwhelming news-sucking event is on the horizon.....even if they have to be the ones to create that event.

I fear that just because something like a facsist takeover of the country has never happened, most people laugh it off. That we have too many institutions set up to prevent it. But we are already watching institutions being dismantled

Trey Gowdy is a fucking disgrace to humanity. He is incapable of rational thought, uncaring for non-donors or party officials and a poor excuse for a human being in general. Any committee he is in charge of that has a mandate other than finding one's ass with both hands is utterly doomed to failure.

A pox on your house Trey, hopefully a very virulent one.

I don't buy for one minute that he doesn't want to interfere in Mueller's investigation; he's never met a Democrat he didn't want to investigate, the investigation doesn't implicate Democrats, so why would he want to investigate something as petty as Russian interference into our elections?

I wonder what Adam Schiff will have to say about this?
