COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Vice President Mike Pence's visit Friday to Colorado to celebrate the anniversary of Focus on the Family came at a time of change for the religious right during the age of President Donald Trump.

Focus on the Family was once well-known for its involvement in politics. But under new leadership, it has dialed that back in an effort by younger evangelicals to withdraw from partisan culture wars.

At the same time, many older evangelicals have stayed the course, helping Trump become president and the religious right gain political power.

Trump's win breathed new life into the older-school political approach that Focus on the Family once embodied.

I seriously ask? No one has ever told these people that they can't worship or go to church. But they seem to be on the warpath against LGBT people and other rights. It seems to me that they're at war with freedom.

They just love playing the persecution card because it enables them to get away with the most evil shit known to man. Because, Jesus.

I keep telling people I know, that when "Christians" are nailed to trees, that will be persecution! When the trees are set on fire, that will be a test of how strong their faith is...

We get what? One hour per week of Bill Maher? Another of Rachel Maddow? If anything it's *OUR* beliefs that are constantly coming under attack. Conservatives own the media. They always have, and they use it to demonize anyone who isn't a white, religious male. We need to start taking back what's rightfully ours.

Who could ever object to that? Extreme RW. Advocates for corporal punishment for very young children.
" Spare the rod and spoil the child." Colorado Springs is a cesspool of that RW BS. Pence seems to be campaigning. Surprised it doesn't make his boss nervous. I guess his worry is on Mueller. I bet he fires him soon.

can somehow justify their support - with themselves, and their god - of the thrice married, pussy grabbing, misogynistic, four-time bankrupt gambling promoter, then they'll have to live with it. That they can't see past the thin veneer of Trump's sudden transformation into a "good christian man", is proof enough that they're nothing more than a sham organization who are abusing the separation of church and state in our country.

"Focus on the Family"! "Focus on the power" is more the actual message they're sending, but they're far too hypocritical to admit that to themselves. A man like Trump would never have been considered for their endorsement in years past, but they've grown so enamored with the power of the presidency they'll back anyone now.

They're just another board in the right-wing, hypocritical, power mad, Republican shit wagon that's riding rough-shod over America at the moment. But their day will come. The day will come when ALL of these right-wing scumbags will have to grovel at the feet of REAL Americans, and this time WE WON'T BE NICE! No more "Mr./Ms. Nice guy". You're outside of our BIG tent, assholes. We've SEEN your brand of "christianity", and it's neither desired or welcomed. Take a freaking hike, and take your hypocritical "christians" with you. I'm here to say that we "heathen, godless liberals" are MORE compassionate, MORE helpful, and MORE accepting of people than you "good christians". So there, assholes!
