Medical Groups Hate the GOP Health Care Plans

Source: NBC News

Groups representing pediatricians, cancer specialists, heart doctors and family physicians all agree: Both the House and the Senate offerings for fixing health care in the U.S. would make things worse, not better.

Within hours of its release, groups representing medical professionals were denouncing the Senate version, called the Better Care Reconciliation Act or BCRA.

"The Senate draft health care bill is literally heartless," American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown said."The Senate draft health care bill is literally heartless," American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown said.

Medicaid covers half the births in the U.S. right now and the House and Senate bills would both not only pull back the expansion of Medicaid that underlay Obamacare, but reduce federal funding for the original program, too. "Medicaid coverage for up to 6.5 million women of childbearing age will be rescinded, making it harder for them to get healthy before they get pregnant," March of Dimes president Stacey Stewart said.

The GOP Bills are not about improving health care. They are about cutting benefits to the working class to finance tax cuts to the rich.

Hard to believe we're the richest country in the world, the land of opportunity & freedom, and this is the best we can do for the most vulnerable of us?

What kind of people would draft this sort of bill? How do they sleep at night?

They don't want to "fix healthcare". They want to give huge tax cuts to the 400 richest families in the U.S. and gut Medicaid. The goal of the ACA was to get more Americans insured, which it certainly did, and now we go backwards.

the rich who will be getting tax cuts, to step up and demand medical coverage for all. Print a list of who these people are, so taxpayers can demand answers for why more money will make their lives better at the expense of the rest of us.

They'll be able to charge whatever they want for their drugs and the prices will be non-negotiable.
The new system won't allow for generic drugs or price competition.

In other words this new set-up completely blows, there's nothing good about it.

8. A simple solution to the 'death spiral' of companies pulling out of states leaving no competition ..

EVERY company who wants to insure ANYBODY in 1 state ... must also offer on the exchanges no less than 15 total states ... at least 1 bronze and 1 each of ALL other tiers ... I.E. you can't be in 'the market' of offering insurance if you're not in 15 states (or maybe 10 ... whatever we need so that there's at least 3 competitors in every state).

AND we set price controls ... and if we have to compromise a little bit on what's covered or maybe have some yearly $ limits or raise some deductibles in order to make sure no ins. co is bankrupted by the price controls, etc ... then we make some compromises in those regards.

Bottom-line there's no reason we cannot FIX the ACA with just a bit of creativity and compromise. Of course, we probably cannot do that AND give the fucking wealthiest (LIKE TRUMP) a tax cut of any significant amount, but TOUGH SHIT.

FCUK U GOP for refusing to even TRY ... to just make what we already have ... WORK. Just because it was passed by a Dem Congress & President. IT WAS YOU GUYS PLAN to begin with, your answer to HilaryCare in 1993, and basically it's RomneyCare as well. Heritage Foundation had HUGE input into it's creation. It's a FREE MARKET SOLUTION FFS.

Suck it up and make it BETTER, don't REPEAL IT.
