House members want taxpayer money to hire personal security
By LINDSAY WISE | McClatchy Washington Bureau (Tribune News Service) | Published: June 26, 2017

WASHINGTON — House of Representatives lawmakers want $25,000 each to hire private security right away to protect them in their home districts, an unusually quick, bipartisan response to the shooting of a Republican House leader and others at a baseball practice.

A House panel has approved providing an immediate $10 million for the rest of fiscal 2017, which runs through Sept. 30, for that purpose.

Representatives could use the money to pay for an off-duty police officer or private security guard at town halls, fish fries, meet-and-greets or other public events in their districts.

The legislation would also add $7.5 million for Capitol Police to bulk up threat assessment and security measures in Washington for fiscal year 2018 — especially when lawmakers gather in groups — and $5 million for members to invest in cameras, door buzzers, key cards and panic buttons in representatives’ district offices.

do not go out in their home districts!! Let their owners, the Koch's, pay for their security. Either that, or HORRORS, they could DO THE RIGHT THING and actually represent their constituents. Are they too stupid to read the tea leaves, doing the bidding of the wealthy has consequences.

These jerks make $174,000 passing legislation that kills people, and then they pass legislation that gives idiots the right to brandish guns that have serious mental health issues, and then they have right wing watch and idiots like that cretin Alex Jones saying that Sandy Hook was fake, can I have a personnel security guard there jerks, nope.

I am not special, I think I am in my world, whats make you so special, your working in the peoples house screwing people, you already have armed guards it called the Capital Police, deal with it, and if you think $25,000 is the pay, take it out of your taxpayer funded salary, you haven't done much this year you been on vacation over 90 days so far.

EIGHT YEARS of the Obama presidency, they sat on their asses, raking in money for blocking anything that could make life easier for taxpayers. All they do is think of ways to "fix" the voting, so the gop stays in control. Now all the celebrating at having tRump "win" the election has ground to a screeching halt. Actions have consequences. Deal with it, since the rest of us have to deal with getting shot while shopping, working, driving, even at home. They made the laws, now they want protection from their own stupidity, at our expense!!! How in the name of all that's holy can anyone vote for these dumb asses?

They want to keep abusing the public, then they can either pay for their own goons or petition the billionaires to provide them.

Notice this is about "protection" during town halls or other public forums. It's easy for me to imagine some trigger happy off-duty cop hired for "personal security" shooting an unarmed constituent at a public event.

I can't afford to keep you safe since no one is keeping me safe from you.

You know those wealthy people you are constantly propping up on the backs of everyone else? Get them to pay.

Those "400 families"? Yeah, them. Let them pay for their own security and allow their security to trickle-down to you.

Let me know how that works for you.

I don't mythologize your importance or value to society. And judging from the actions of at least half of you, your value to 'the people" is zilch. You are only as good as the laws you create to help the citizens - and let's face it - some of you have been trying to fuck us over for years now.

You're like the armed robber who sticks a gun in people's faces and then demands your victims pay for your safe get-away.

Violence is wrong but a lot of the laws you enact and the words you use are no less violent in their intent.

Anti-woman laws. Anti-POC - Gerrymandering and voter suppression. Anti-LGBT views and laws. Anti-human rights, period. Inhumane "health care" laws which amount to nothing more than taking from the poor and the needy to give to the wealthy. You enact laws to make the environment worse and to kill necessary regulations that protect people - and it's always the poor who suffer first in their neighborhoods from it. From the toxins in the air, ground, and water. From poverty and everything that comes with it.

Just because you're murdering people slowly (and methodically) doesn't make it any less murder. In fact, it makes you a serial killer. Only you get to call it legal and gleefully giggle as people slowly die-off because of your hate, greed, and most of all - your self-righteousness.

And now you want us to pay to protect you from your constituents (you know - "the people&quot ?

Yes, I'm angry.

The last time he deigned to visit us here in KY. He sneaked in the back door for some private meeting. The pic showed snipers positioned on the roof of surrounding buildings.

How many ways could that go wrong?
