Trump Aims To Boost 'Energy Dominance' Of US By Increase In Oil, Gas Exports

Source: Associated Press

By MATTHEW DALY Published JUNE 27, 2017 11:49 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) — With U.S. exports of oil and natural gas surging, President Donald Trump says the U.S. is on the brink of becoming a net exporter of oil, gas and other resources.

Trump is highlighting what he calls “energy dominance” as the White House hosts a series of events focused on jobs and boosting U.S. global influence. The self-proclaimed “energy week” follows similar policy-themed weeks on infrastructure and jobs.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry said Monday the Trump administration is confident officials can “pave the path toward U.S. energy dominance” by exporting oil, gas and coal to markets around the world, and promoting nuclear energy and even renewables such as wind and solar power.

“For years, Washington stood in the way of our energy dominance. That changes now,” Perry told reporters at the White House. “We are now looking to help, not hinder, energy producers and job creators.”

1. And lower prices more

I remember freepers claiming Obama was killing oil and gas jobs when prices dropped, after blaming him for high prices when he took office.

How do our oil producing allies feel about this? I'm sure Putin won't like it, or Saudi Arabia. Venezuela might as well be a failed state at this point.

Yeah Rick Perry, you're such job creators.

This is why all the pipelines are coming through. The one in the Eastern Panhandle of WV is awaiting approval from US Park Service. TransCanada already test bore under the Potomac at Hancock Maryland. How does a pipeline go from Berkeley Springs WV to Lusby Md on the Eastern Shore? How does it miss all the high dollar real estate DC suburbs in Maryland?

7. So he shows off a plan to do what we already do, but more of it so it'll fail faster?

Sounds like an excuse for him to get out in front of some audiences who'll still applaud.

How very Trump.

Every other major developed nation, China not excluded, is making strides to eliminate the very market for the products he wants to export. He's living in the past on this and it will bite the US economy in the long run.

It shows he has absolutely no business acumen at all. He has only been "successful" in real estate because it is a truly limited and non-substitutable resource and he just happened to be on the side that owned a bunch of it already.

9. Think we'd get energy dominance if we invest in battery optimization...

Most of the world is going green. Batteries and grid infrastructure is the way of the future.

Hopefully, most carbon fuels and gas will end up being important only for plastics and rubber, not energy production.

We are nowhere near an energy exporter.
