Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is aiming to send a revised version of his health-care bill to the Congressional Budget Office by as soon as Friday, according to Capitol Hill aides and lobbyists.
The effort reflects the tight timeline McConnell faces in his attempt to hold a vote before the August recess and the pressure he is under to make changes that improve the CBOs measure of the bills impact on coverage levels and federal spending.
McConnell is trying to move quickly to produce a new CBO score by the time lawmakers return to Washington in mid-July, giving the Senate about two weeks to fulfill the majority leaders goal of voting before the August recess.
McConnell and his aides plan continue negotiations through the end of the week and will be in frequent communication with the CBO, according to McConnell spokesman David Popp.

(97 posts)They want to cut services, period to pad the wealthy. There is NO WAY the American people are going to go with anything they come up with. Single Payer is the only way. We aren't going back to the dark ages.

(7,402 posts)I see them offering bribes to Collins/Murkowski and then moving even further right with the actual bill. But moving to the right only makes matters worse with the CBO score. Delaying Medicaid cuts to improve the CBO score would be moving to the left so that is out as that would cost votes. There is no path forward using just Republican votes. They are confused into thinking that activity equals progress. It doesn't.

(957 posts)Scrap the previous three bills, and pass this:
A) Be it resolved that from this point forward Obamacare has been repealed and replaced. The replacement, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will remain in in full effect.
B) The US Department of Human Services shall offer for sale on the exchange for every state (whether or not the exchange is operated by that state or the US Government) health insurance policies with coverage comparable to Medicare.
C) All Prescription Drug plans will be based on pricing no higher than that provided under Veterans Administration Coverage.
If there was a way to compel the remaining states to expand Medicaid I would add that too.
Thus, they would have fulfilled their promise of repealing Obamacare. The resulting change to the exchanges will ensure affordability in all markets. And there will remain no new negotiation for Prescription Drug prices (because the VA has done a fine job on this point).
Oh well, McConnell won't go for it.

Choices, Choices...
Comes down to Greed and Theft from the Taxpayers or Real Governance and Health Care. It's an easy bet which choice Mitch will make.
