CBS News: No Staff Members Left In Science Division Of White House Office

Source: Talking Points Memo

The last employees departed from the science division of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy last week, leaving the division completely unstaffed, according to a Friday report by CBS News.

CBS News reported, citing unnamed sources, that the division was unstaffed as of Friday, but noted the White House may assign the policy subjects previously handled by the division to other staff within the office.

Eleanor Celeste, formerly the offices assistant director for biomedical and forensic sciences, tweeted a farewell on Friday.

While out west the temps oared to 125 degrees in Phoenix and Palm Springs, and this yahoo running around trying to show that he won the popular vote, by having a commission trying to get private voter information, which violates the illegal search amendment on the Constitution in my opinion

Then running around some and doing more besmirching of a cable morning news host, and trying to "blackmail" her, and then there is the possible link of Flynn and a GOP operative and the hacking at the DNC and election being reported by the WSJ.

Rump has a lot in common with the Tsar. They seek to dominate, not govern in the best interests of their country. We have a Russian mole for President or Flynn provides the conduit for the greedy, deranged infant the Tsar favoured?

Greedy, self serving "Bastards", a film noir

greater education. Nearly 80% of my graduating class when onto additional education. Many when onto careers in the sciences. The shop guys went onto technical schools, we had excellent ones and many people found apprenticeships in the local industries.

Now, for many, being ignorant seems to be valued. I'm just stunned at how the US is failing in so many directions. And I am really amazed that a character like Trump is president. Given the course, there is no way that America will be a leader in the 21st century, but rather will be taking a backseat to other nations. I'm just so damn disappointed in the US and where it's headed.

Generous scholars will share what they learn. Knowledge might go underground, but it'll never die. Curious minds will leave a greater legacy than trump. That makes me smile.

That is certainly better than remaining here and not being able to do their research, but the last thing we need in this country is a scientific brain drain.

Willful ignoramuses reign supreme under Frump. Vastly outmanned, I had no quarter against the doofus bullies I had to contend with en masse, in mob mentality. It is so upsetting they have "won".
I ran away from home at 16 to escape bullying and save my own life. Fucking PTSD haunts me to this day, having found solace from constant bullying under an urban freeway bridge.
In my mind, I find myself hiding under the bridge, breathing the pollutants but secure I was incognito... all over again.

His true core base are the bullies, the people who want to blame their life on everyone but themselves and the reality is that's probably 20% of the population. We're never going to change their minds, we need to concentrate on the other 15-20% of the people that are just uninformed and easily taken in. When he loses a lot of those people then this nightmare will be over.

...desirable to be uneducated? Can we pinpoint it? Did this start with Reagan? With Bush II? I don't get it.

I'm 66. From my earliest memories of elementary school, it got pounded in to me that I would be going to college. In 3rd grade, before traditional letter grades were given, I once got a "Needs To Improve" in Show And Tell. (I was, and still am, on the shy side, and didn't relish getting up in front of the class unless I thought I had something really interesting to share). My mom was very stern with me that I was going to have to fix this, "because you ARE going to go to college, and this will be on your permanent record." I remember doubting that a college was going to care about something that happened when I was 8, but one didn't argue with mom.

People admired, respected, and desired education when I was a kid.

Willful ignorance, combined with arrogance, is a very frightening combination.

I wouldn't want to willingly subject any living, thinking being to the dismal future that lies before us. I am beyond depressed, morose, despondent... Woe is us. Woe is the US.
