Man accidentally shoots self in leg at Gettysburg park rally

Source: Associated Press

Updated 4:39 pm, Saturday, July 1, 2017

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man participating in a free speech rally at Gettysburg National Military Park accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Park spokeswoman Katie Lawhon says the man's revolver accidentally discharged shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday near the Meade Equestrian Statue in the central Pennsylvania park.

United States Park Police Sgt. Anna Rose says police quickly applied a tourniquet, and the man was taken to a hospital for medical care. PennLive.com reports that he was talking with paramedics and seemed in good spirits.

Lawhon says she didn't know if the man was with a particular group but said he was participating in First Amendment demonstrations taking place at the park. Federal laws permit firearms in national parks.

... I've been to Gettysburg several times and I haven't seen many POC there.
Maybe POC visitors to the historic sites, but not living in Gettysburg.

So in this case maybe the cops are just doing their jobs and not taking sides.

I audited an upper division, pre-law constitutional law class a few years ago. Given the context of the original intent and the history of quartering, it's incredibly easy to draw the parallel between forcing a homeowner to shelter and nourish agents of the government without compensation or permission and forcing a person to house and nourish a fetus without compensation of permission.

3A is the basis for all privacy rights.

A pat on the back to the offender, maybe a hug, and then you can brag about how you "holster your rig" in public so as not to blow anyone's head off.

Wouldn't want to offend any sensitive Republicans or Trumpkins who might vote for a Democrat anytime in the next 400 years for dog catcher.

Both stupid and dumb when a simple leather pancake holster conceals just as well without any of the discomfort that requires making adjustments to crappy inside the pants holsters after you sit and stand back up.

Something also tells me his firearm of choice didn't have a dangerous manual safety.
