Trump's FBI Nominee Chris Wray Pledges Independence From Trump

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ALICE OLLSTEIN Published JULY 12, 2017 10:20 AM

On Wednesday morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee grilled the man President Donald Trump tapped to lead the FBI: former federal prosecutor Christopher Wray.

Wray, if confirmed, will take the position previously held by James Comey, who Trump fired in May after he refused to pledge loyalty to the president or to drop the ongoing federal investigation into fired National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

On Wednesday, Wray assured the committee that despite the circumstances of his nomination, he will remain independent from the White House. “If I am given the honor of leading this agency,” he said. “I will never allow the FBI’s work to be driven by anything other than the facts, the law, and the impartial pursuit of justice. Period.”

Wray went on to emphasize that his only loyalty is to “the Constitution and the rule of law.”

Well if Al Franken's straightforward questioning is anything to go by, Wray is a shoe-in. OnDoutside Jul 2017 #8

Why are we supposed to trust the word of anyone that Trump nominates for anything?

Rump wouldn't have nominated this guy unless he thought he could control him.

What's the plan to prove that you can be trusted? Let me give you some starting points:

1. No meetings with Prez or his cronies without at least two other individuals present. Summary notes of all discussions mandatory
2. Disclosure of all Russian investments, friends, associates, business dealings, everything including travel--EVERYTHING.
3. Plan of whom to disclose issues to (hint: NOT JEFF SESSIONS)

Ones that can believably say that they have no loyalties to their party or president. And say it with a straight face.
